That was crazy, was at the pub when this happened.
Totally crazy, did you see me, herb and Zack Kassian at the pub with a massive plate of nachos and a pitcher of Granville Island Lager?

I only caught the last 35 minutes. From what I saw the Canucks looked to be the ones driving the pace.

Chances that were there but just not converting. Hiller made some good saves. Lack of net presence hurts us.

The key to shutting down the Canucks when our bottom-9 aren't going is exactly what Kypreos pointed out in the intermission. Focus on taking away the pass from below the goal to the far post. When the Sedins don't have this option it wreaks havoc with their gameplan.

On the PP it is even easier. Give the Sedins space and prevent the entry pass to the slot and the same pass from goal line to far post. When the puck goes to the blueline, pressure the point, and our defensemen will mishandle it and we either regroup in neutral ice or they dump it around the boards and we reset down low. The need for a PPQB is obvious lately.

I've noticed Vrbata has been trying a few different areas, going between high and low, but the Sedins seem to fixated on that backdoor play from down low. Hank has looked right at Vrbata through a clear lane and elected to go back to the corner with the puck.

Tanev's read in OT was special. He doesn't jump up into the play like other defensemen, but when he does it seems to pay dividends more often than not. His development has been enjoyable to watch over the last few years.

Flames have full team buy-in, when they pressured and got their first goal it was 5 guys making the effort while 2 Canucks stood still and 3 chased. Miller did well to even get a glove on the first shot through heavy traffic.

There seems to be a passenger on every line lately at times.

and to surmise Meds post - The Sedins with their age, need help from a younger, more skilled 2nd line to take the pressure off them. It's too easy to shut this team down when we can only rely on one line to produce our offence. Game plan for the other team, Shut the Sedins down and they will have trouble scoring.

Raymond on the first line? :?
He's a marginal 2nd liner at best.... :hmmm:

Good to see that we can still beat our in-bred cousins...
Too bad that we gave them the loser point though.

No Jaeger in sight but it is early. Craft beer market on the Olympic village so lots of choices. 100 beers on tap or something silly like that. Don't think they have cheese steaks or poutine.

It is a neat spot for sure. Kass left under his own power so not too many Jaeger bombs and vodka Red Bulls I guess.

Surprised Topper didn't mention that in his summary.

Well he is their 3rd-highest paid forward (and the only one of those three with a NTC). :drink:

But even still... you're absolutely right!

Albeit he started the season with 7 points in his first 7 games (5g + 2a).

Then he missed 7 weeks with an injury.

Since returning he has zero points in 7 games.

Two months ago Flames fans were calling him the best free agent signing of the summer.

Now they're screaming for him to be waived (I was just reading one of their forums).

Anyone know if the injury was to his back?

BTW it was Raymond who flubbed the pass on the delayed penalty resulting in the goal (video above).

I was busy with Johnny the fire plug.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.
