COYOTES (24-18-9) at CANUCKS (26-17-9)
TV: FS-A PLUS, SNET-P
Last 10: Phoenix 4-6-0; Vancouver 3-5-2
Season series: It's the fourth of five games between the Phoenix Coyotes and Vancouver Canucks. Each of the first three has been decided by a single goal and won by the home team. Phoenix won 3-2 on Nov. 5 as Antoine Vermette scored in the shootout. Vancouver responded for a 3-2 win of its own Dec. 6 on an overtime goal by Chris Higgins. And most recently, Mike Smith made 29 saves and Vermette scored the lone goal as the Coyotes blanked the Canucks 1-0 on Jan. 16.
Big story: This is the proverbial "four-point game" in the sense that Phoenix could pull within two points of Vancouver for the eighth seed in the Western Conference or find itself six points out, depending on who wins and whether the victory is in regulation. The Coyotes will still hold a game in hand regardless of the outcome, but with almost two-thirds of the season in the books this is about as big as it gets for the end of January.
Surprise, surprise, Calgary is the sister city of Phoenix. Edmonton is the sister city of Nashville. Two of the NHL's least relevant franchises are related to two of the NHL's weakest and worst run.
As nobody cares about Phoenix it seems pointless to talk about them. But some quick and probably easy trivia on their weak little sister:
From 1990 to 2013, how many times have the Calgary Flames got past the first round of the playoffs?

Great game from Edler, 4th line looks real solid, Sestito fights Hanzal, Smith flops and draws a penalty on Hansen, Lu makes 27 saves, we get 33 shots.
3 STARS:

Re: Glendale, AZ @ Vancouver - 5PM - SPac
what is the over/under the Canucks will score 2 or more goals?
Re: Glendale, AZ @ Vancouver - 5PM - SPac
My apologies.
Death to Hanzal.
As is often the case, if he needs to leave the game due to injury caused intentionally I'll buy the jersey of our heroic Canuck and send it to Calpuke to raffle off.

"Weber with Lain and Sestito on fourth line. Higgins joins Kesler and Burrows while D. Sedin skates with Dalpe, Kassian. "
Our top line looks pretty decent Higgy-RK17-Burr.

Re: Glendale, AZ @ Vancouver - 5PM - SPac
The problem with the power play is our first PP group are trying skill plays without any skill players.
I've seen Kesler try that back hand to the front of the net a tonne of times and it has never worked.
Keep it simple Canuckleheads!!!

Re: Glendale, AZ @ Vancouver - 5PM - SPac
How can our power play continue this bad. I mean some goals should accidentally go in.

Re: Glendale, AZ @ Vancouver - 5PM - SPac
We don't have the skill to stickhandle it into the zone to set up and we're not moving through the neutral zone fast enough and shooting it in to be able to retrieve it on the dump in.rats19 wrote:How can our power play continue this bad. I mean some goals should accidentally go in.
And if by some miracle we are able to set up, we never get a clean one timer off from the point and we don't have the skill to be able to execute a down low passing play.
Our best option is to keep blasting it in from the point. Daniel on the half boards is accomplishing exactly nothing.
