how typical of the team this year.

Seriously this team is really nothing, very little identity I don't know what their strengths are anymore.

Lousy game but great goal by Higgins.. take the 2 points . Giving Coyotes 1 is not OK rats

Absolutely not ok.

Good teams don't do shit like this and the Canucks... are borderline good.

Our inability to protect a lead at home is a major red light.

we have had a major red light for 3 years (yes BK and RD who are the same people).

In different areas but this is the first year that I can remember where we are consistently giving up points in the 3rd to divisional rivals.

Since the SSB line was born, we've always been able to protect the lead.

Not anymore.

The good:

We score the opening goal.
We score on the PP, 7th consecutive game we get a PP goal.
Perfect on the PK.
We get that 2-0 goal late in the second to give us some breathing room heading into the third.
Kesler, Higgins, Santorelli played great.
Richardson, Weise, Hansen looked good, just no finish.
Stanton and Tanev looked very solid.
We score in OT to get the two points.
Win on home ice.
Win third in a row.
We score more that two in the game.

The bad:

We blow a 2-0 lead in the third and let Phoenix get a point
We sit back in the third, noticeably, and get out played soundly.
The Sedin line looked invincible even though Hank scores.
Booth doesn't fit with the twins, give me Anson Carter back.
Phoenix owned us in FO.

So I don't know how we can say it was an inexcusable loss. We had more positives than negatives. It hurts, sucks, Phoenix got a point but credit to them. They out worked us and out played us in the third. But we found a way to win, something we weren't doing last home stand. I'm as disappointed as the rest but you have to take the positive, look at the whole picture.

Torts has to start getting more ice time for the forth line. They have to be able to play more meaningful minutes. Always playing with a shortened bench is one of the problems we have right now. We are not talented enough to play a three line game.

So ya it sucks we blew the two goal lead but we found a way to pull it out. So colour me satisfied, but not happy.

Colorado up next. A big test again.
The only HW the Canucks need

Blowing a lead heading into the 3rd almost use to be unheard of. Blowing a 2 goal lead w/ roughly 10 minutes to go would have been unthinkable, esp at home.

The time is now to play Kassian w/ the twins while Burrows is out. See if something can come of it. Its worked before, he can play their passing game & he's a big body to drive to the net. What that does is provides more depth, Hansen doesn't work there....Booth doesn't work there...Santorelli isn't a fit etc etc. Keep Kesler on the 2nd line and keep Booth and Santorelli together. They've had chemistry in the past. Leave Higgins & Kesler together w/ Hansen or Richardson (until Burrows returns). Weise can play the 3rd line if Richardson stays on the 4th. If Torts won't play the 4th line then a trade needs to be made to bring in a legit 4th line energy player who can play w/ Richardson.

Its not that Kassian has "earned" it but he's the best bet there w/ Kesler playing 2nd line center. Who else works besides Burrows? No one here. Booth has chemistry w/ Santorelli and thats about it. He was brought in to play w/ Kesler and I called it from the get-go they wouldn't have chemistry. They're the same time of player, they don't distribute the puck very well and are more individuals w/ the puck or shooters. There was no way they were going to gel. As it is now he's bringing the Twins down simply by not being a player who can play their game.

Did anyone think we were going to miss Raymond so much? He'd be looking mighty fine right about now. I suppose it was to be expected since we cut him loose & didn't replace him.

How can this possibly be a bad thing? :eh:

Yeah, loved Anson Carter. Great fit with the twins. Big heart. Even bigger hair.
Too bad they couldn't agree on a contract. :(

Probably our worst third period in a long while, but a win is a win,we gain a point on Phoenix and on to the next one.

I'm going to give RD some credit here. Since he came over to our glass half-full side ( albeit sarcastically ) we've gone 4-1. Thanks RD.

I get it...but borderline teams also lose in OT...we did not. Which is why I I said its ok ..I guess.

I refuse to be upset with a win....can't make me

I agree with you on the fact that we've had a major red light for 3 years. Actually, I've been saying this since early 2009 when we were on that ridiculous 10 game losing streak........that there was some kind mental deficiency with this team........so with that said, I actually do agree with you on the "major red light" comment.

Where I completely disagree with you, is your mind-numbingly STUPID assertion that the Canucks should have blown up their team and rebuilt back in 2010 (3 years ago)..........when the fact of that matter is that this team won two Presidents' trophies in the two years following, and came within a game of winning the Stanley Cup.

When you get outshot 14-4 it means you have begun coasting. The lack of intensity that they showed in the 3rd gave the Yotes life. Gotta play for 60 minutes.

Also - I agree with rats' observation here.

Yes - blowing that lead in the 3rd period was bush league (at this point however, is anyone actually surprised that the Canucks blew the lead? I was actually expecting to be completely honest)...........BUT........we got the two points. We've now won 4 of our last 5 games.
