I dont get that at all CFP....

Our defensive zone puck support is shit. We cant pass to make a clean breakout.

The Sharks 3rd and 4th line have better finish than our top 6.

For some reasons, it's teams of the San Jose/LA/Boston/St.Louis model that gives us fits. They all play a very similar style of game and our offense goes completely AWOL when we go up against them.

Simply put, it's just not a good match up for us.

So teams that dont give us space or let us setup?

Kesler needs to go back to the shutdown role. Thats when he was most effective offensively and defensively. 41 goals was built on pp markers and generating off of turnovers and drawing penalties. Opposing skaters hated playing against him because he shut them down so effectively. When he's thinking score first he's less of a threat. Kesler in an offense first is going to hurt this team more than help it.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I completely agree. Great point about Kesler by the way. I've felt that way for years. I always felt that the Nashville series from 2011 was a curse in disguise as it gave people the illusion that Ryan Kesler was an offensive juggernaut of some kind.

The Ryan Kesler from that playoff run that we should have been praising, was the one that played against Chicago and completely shut down Toews and Kane. The Kesler that played for Team USA in 2010 is also the Ryan Kesler we need.

Ps - and 'yes' to your question.

I'd love it if Kesler played a similar role to how Steve Yzerman played for the Wings from 1997-2006.

Hansen-Kesler-Burrows would be among the best shut down lines in hockey........and would still be capable of chipping goals.
