Great deal…I’d do this if we didn’t already have 25 2nd/3rd liners signed to lifetime contracts.

No.

Apparently the cheeseburgler couldn't finagle a home town discount out of Davey boy.

That's a hard core amount of money (and term) for that player.

confirming #Leafs Clarkson 36.75M over 7 yrs on new deal.

Not 6, but still high. Guys who are tough and can score 20-25 goals are always going to be in high demand. Leafs had to over pay by a million to get him though.

Yep, Stalberg was another guy I was hoping GMMG would bang the doors on.

Sign Viktor and potentially move Hansen for something.

Shrug.

Weiss to either the Wings or Blues…the number floating around is $6M per…LOL is that the going rate for a 50ish point 30 year old centre who has zero playoff experience?

Gillis would be getting crucified next year if any of these big money guys were Canucks because you know they can never live up to the expectations these contracts bring…

herb wrote:I like David Clarkson, but seven years and $6M per is way too much for a 29 year old who has really only had one big year…the guy has never cracked 50 points (Mason Raymond and Michael Grabner have, for instance). He will be bought out at some point.
Would love nothing better than for Clarkson to mail it in, or suffer Leaf-itis a-la Green and Corson. Watching that blubbering oaf try to explain buying out that contract would be sweet, sweet viewing.

That move’s probably a wash and costs precious cap space this year…the only benefit would be Hansen could be moved for an asset (pick or young player).

Heard Gordon's cap hit is $3M haha yeah a smidgen overpaid for a 3rd/4th line center.

I guess we could debate that in terms of potential enhanced offensive production and size differential in addition to the asset Hansen brought back.

My view of it anyway.

Wow.

Have fun moving that contract if things go south before the contract's up.

...hopefully GMMG won that poker game in driving the price up to the point where MacT had to overpay...
