You never know, maybe he reads this board and S_C's post convinces him it's not worth trying to reacquire him from the Wild.

(For Jensen, Schroeder and our 2014 1st rounder - "Ballard value")

It seems like Weber is an insurance policy if Corrado is not ready for prime time... They can waive/send him down without cap implications (up to $900k)

I wonder if this means that the Canucks are no longer interested in Blum...?

On Yannick Weber:

Weber scored his first career NHL goal during the 2009 playoffs, April 20 against Tim Thomas of the Boston Bruins. Weber scored his first NHL regular season goal on February 9, 2011, also against Tim Thomas. Weber contributed two goals during the Canadiens' first round 2011 playoff series against the Boston Bruins, both times beating Tim Thomas.

Seems like a decent pick up

Well he does shoot right.

Not really that sizeable, but it seems he can move the puck - and he's young.

Let's see how he fares under Torts. I wonder if he has enough 'bite'.

Tanev and Booth for a scrub to free up a potential 6.5 million.

Webber is only 24 and looks like he has some offence to his game. Don't know much about him .

The downside of Keith Ballard was his salary. I would trade ham handed Bernier, pillowy soft Grabner and a late 1st rounder in a weak draft for a top 4 D man. Too bad Ballard didn't live up to expectations. It wasn't the mediocre package we gave up that bothers me. It was Ballard's shitty play.

Guys like Weber and potentially Blum on cheap deals are fine, it seems to me that Gillis/Gilman might be going after an Iginla and using cheap depth to afford a guy like him. Remember, you can go up to 7.5% over the cap with a 35+ deal now, so Iggy could fit in pretty easily.

BB is such a hypocrite. He talked about Alfie going to Detroit to chase a cup and said he doesn't blame the player for following his dream and wanting to go to an organization where he felt he had a better opportunity to do so. Praised Alfie and his right to make this choice. Seems to me that when Paul Karyia did the same thing BB blasted him for having no loyalty, selfish and hurting the Ducks who had paid him millions over the years.

What gives BB?

They could also have a lower salary and add in bonus money which can be deferred.
