This draft is very deep so prices are steep. I would like to know what the other offers were. Horvat looks good. Should be interesting. I wonder if Edler is in play?

GMMG alluded to the change in the way lou's contract is dealt with in the new CBA while interviewed with Horvat.

GMMG stopped on his way to the podium to speak with LeBrun, LeBrun now saying, deal was done last night.

LOL at dregs of broadcasting covering his ass.

Well, it has been pointed out that CS is UFA in two years and if he produces as expected his cap hit could go up to 6+. As for Marty, I have to think if he comes back it will be for a one year deal only but I can't see NJD having the cap room now to re-sign him and a few others they need to.

I don't know anything about our pick but I am relieved that it is over. We still have Luongo on a great cap hit and will get another number of years out of him.

The shock from other teams is that they would have given up their first round pick, ya right. Any of the top 5 would have gone for this. I doubt it. And no way we let Calgary or Edmonton get him for just that pick. I would have liked a little more but it is what it is.

I guess we just have to go back to plan A which was to keep Luongo and trade CS when is value was high. Funny how things turn out.

As for Luongo, I am hearing he is surprised, was not expecting to see CS traded. He also did not expect a buy out as MG had already told his agent it was a no go. He will be fine once he gets over his emotional upheaval. With a new coach and no one kicking his tires to take his job I think he will have a lot to prove.

Let the Lou chants reign for another 9 years!! ANd when he hoists that cup the tears will be extra special.

You know it was a good trade when the majority of fans from other sites say how upset they are that the Canucks got a 9th and out from under cap hell

I highly recommend the HF Canucks board right now. Chicken Littles screaching and scratching all over the place. Quite entertaining.

For a website dedicated to prospects you'd think they'd have heard of Lack, Eriksson and Cannata.

MG on Edler says he is no longer in cap hell so the urgency to trade Edler is gone. I take that to mean that both Edler and CS were not necessarily in play but one of them was in order to clear cap space. Now that CS is gone and MG has breathing room he doesn't have the pressure to trade Edler, But other GM's know that to get him they have to trade for him today so this puts the pressure on them if they really ant to get him out of Vancouver now.

Ya Dreger was spoon fed shit and really has egg on his face. I think Edmonton was the smoke screen and I agree that the demand by the Canucks was very high for Edmonton. If Edmonton had bitten MG would have pulled the trigger. Also sounds like the deal was worked out yesterday.

Also Glad that teams that thought they could steal Luongo or grad him on waivers look silly. They will rue the day they let Lou slip past them.

I can't believe some are shocked that MG didn't trade Schneider to the Oilers. Holy fuck grab a brain. One our biggest nemesis in our division ? Seriously, the math isn't hard.

I actually love this. Horvat is a very good player. Don't be surprised after years gone by that Horvat will be one of the 5 best players in this class. He will be our Ryan OReilly/Patrice Beregeron

Gillis just made a fan. Me

I also predict that Luongo will forever be the better goalie.

Yep. If that strombone tweet was legit: "I'll stay and back up for free if they let me sit in at every Torts press conference", it sounds like Lou will get over it quickly enough. That isn't a joke made by somebody who has mentally checked out and wants to GTFO of town.

I bow to you RD, I bow!

I'm also glad CS does not stay in the West!

We wanted bold. I think this qualifies. Lou is gonna need a couple days to digest this. Cory gonna need a couple days...hell I need a couple days ;)

I wonder if Cory shares with Marty for a year or if Marty is retiring?

Still have a sneaking suspicion Edler is in play but we are getting late in the draft for Edlers value. Maybe we see some thing this week prior to free agency and Edlers NTC kicking in

Once again, Vancouver goal tenders replace Brodeur.

Lou in the Worlds and the Olympics, Cory at home.

It's amazing how clueless people on that board are. It's difficult to read given most of the posters act like 8 year olds, but they do get info sooner than most.

On Horvat, I've never seen him play but I like the sounds of a two way guy with good physical play and the upside to be an offensive guy. A player like him was needed, and given Gaunce, Jensen and Corrado are near ready at least there will be young players ready to contribute on cheap deals soon.

On the value received for Schneids - that I'm not sure about. If Horvat is all that then I'm happy, but it's a gamble. Schneids was a very good player for this team and AV loved him, but AV isn't here anymore. I'm still fine with trading him in theory, I'm just not sure this is the value I expected. The fact that Lu is still there as an elite goalie and Schneids would return something tangible means this trade makes sense, though it's a bit tough to stomach right now.
