Not liking this one. Reportedly Edmonton offered their 1st, 2nd and a roster player. Course this comes from Dreger so I find it hard to believe that MG would have passed on this.

Think you might be misreading Dreger's tweet. That was what Vancouver *wanted*, not what Edm offered.

Perfect destination to ship CS off to with no worries of future repercussions.

Hope Lu's ok with staying. Really liked Corey.

Thankfully the prospect cupboard is stocked at goal if nowhere else.

Nope. Bo Horvat. A 2/3C by the looks of it.

I think this is a franchise turning point. I actually believe Luongo is the superior goalie, and he's got a coach who will let him play and play a lot.

If Luongo is mentally all there for this team for this season, we come out way ahead than going with Schneider. I don't believe Schneider has the mental toughness to survive this market as the starter, and long-term there are huge question marks around his mental stability.

If I'm wrong and Schneider surpasses Luongo after Brodeur retires, then this move will be Gillis' death knell. I don't think it will haunt the franchise because Luongo will be at least a very good goalie for many more years.

Love that Horvat is a 211 lb 18 year old.

I really believe that MG was not in a position to buy out Luongo. I think his hand was forced but he still needs to clear more cap. He may have the authority to buy out Ballard, a lot different that Luongo.

I am good with this. Watched Horvat this season 4 times and he is the full meal deal.

WOW...

Thought the return would be bigger. That said, to get into the top-10 of this draft I guess the price would be that high. NJ is as good a destination for Schneider as anywhere - especially as opposed to Deadmonton.

I guess Luo is the guy... :look:

As well, they must be pretty high on Lack and Ericsson.

Would have loved to know what the other legit offers were.

So is Brodeur retiring? Or is Cory going to get another mentor?

It is what it is. I do think a teams like philly and the Islanders who likely could have had Luongo for next to nothing really ought to be kicking themselves.

Not sure the value is there but I do trade to the East for quite a bit less than I do to the Oilers. Oilers offer seems to have been the 7th, 2nd round pick and prospect. No word on what the prospect is that I've seen. It's smart to keep the Oilers looking for blueline and goaltending help. The longer it takes them to find that the more they waste the assets up front.

We'll see how Horvat develops but the canucks now have two hard working big centers in the system in Gaunce and Horvat.

You have to think Schroeder is seeing the writing on the wall.

In the end I don't like evaluating deals in a vacuum and need to see what the entire offseason holds. This deals with one problem Gillis had though you could knock me over with a feather right now.

I think that was the asking price, not the offer.
