Meh, I'm used to it.

We've just been spoiled the past few seasons.

I was also thinking "Not a Swede in sight; why would Per be starting this thread?"

Then I saw... Bridgestone Messier Leadership Award- Daniel Alfredsson.

Every other award honours a past hockey legend... Bridgestone? Seriously?

I guess it's now just a matter of time until all awards have a sponsor. Costco Calder, Coca Cola Vezina,...... JobIng.com Jennings.
2011..... the one that got away.

Chalk it up to nobody on the Canucks having that great a year. The proof is in the empty stalls at the Rog.

The team has players who are capable of performing to the point of consideration for these awards, if not winning them. The trophy hauls of a couple years ago were not a fluke, and they're not so long ago that they can't be repeated. They just didn't perform well enough to warrant consideration - whether because of injury, psychology, chemistry or coaching.

It just makes me appreciate those years moreso now, and realize what great seasons those were, regardless of the end result.
Love the Sport. Love the Team.

Hate the League.

Well, it is one of the messier awards...

Messier, Clancy, Foundation... Don't know, somehow they don't feel like "real" awards.
Not as tangible as Norris, Vezina, Hart, Art Ross, Calder et al.

Btw, I think they presented some Bud Light +/- award a couple of years back... Not sure if it's an official one.
Marek Malik won it in 03/04. Terrible name for an award anyway.

Tough to be considered for awards when we only played 60 minutes a couple times last season....

Once again, "bold moves" Holmgren proves why he's a better GM then Gillis.
