This is how it's gonna go down, Lou gets traded for either or of Carey Price of MTL or Cam Ward of Carolina, near FLA (Lagongo's stomping grounds). Schneidsy then gets traded for a top notch young player. Done deal. Gillis is a hero for once.

um Lou didn't elect himself as captain, that decision was management. I can still hear the Gillis press conference on why he chose Lou to be captain. We soon learned that it wasn't a very bright move by Gillis, a man of many bright moves, i.e. Lagongo's contract, the goalie fiasco this season between Lou and Schneids, the farm team, Ballard, Bernier, Booth, Roy, so on and so on and so on.Rumsfeld wrote:

They were trying to massage his fragile ego so he'd stick around. He accepted it, which you could argue a true leader wouldn't do, since he already had a problem when it comes to folding under pressure.RoyalDude wrote:um Lou didn't elect himself as captain, that decision was management. I will drink enough for both of us. Off work with a cut thumb right now. Booze kills the pain - off to take kids to school carnival with buddy and his kids- all within walking distance.

What used to be our greatest strength is now our greatest weakness... and in one-game eliminations that's a shitty weakness to have.Mëds wrote:Very stacked.Rumsfeld wrote:

I think Price will get his game back, you can't go from that good to that shitty that fast. He's apparently a bit of a party boy.

Classy and very thoughtful. It most certainly is an option. It might not be the ideal one, but its there.Rumsfeld wrote:What the fuck do people not grasp here? LUONGO STAYING IS NOT AN OPTION.ClamRussel wrote:The math is simple.
Lu + return for Cory trade > Cory + nothing from Lu trade
Management doesn't want him here.
Luongo doesn't want to be here.
Luongo's whore of a wife doesn't want to be here.
Do that fucking math, Jack.
LOL, oh really? Interesting rule. You can't rebuild w/ Cory because he's already in his late 20s
Yup, sure looks that way.its a no-brainer.
In terms of Cory's age, he's the perfect for a team that has already rebuilt and loaded with young players about to hit their stride, like the Oilers or Islanders. If the Canucks blow things up and rebuild he's be Luongo's age, and probably past his prime, before they're ready to really compete. ...or the Canucks if they could actually get an asset for Luongo. But you've considered that, haven't you.

We'll see how that plays out. He is a bit of a wildcard imo but so is Crawford.Tciso wrote:Then get what you can for Lou from someone in the East, and we have a very different back end going forward. But, will Boston trade Rask if they win the cup? and, why would they?ClamRussel wrote: How about Schneider + Edler + forward for Lucic + Rask + defenceman.

Re: Luongo and Schneider Revisited (or is it continued?)
It doesn't take six years to rebuild. And Cory is just beginning his long NHL career.
But yeah, let's trade our young, affordable, athletic stud goaltender right as he's hitting his prime and keep a playoff meltdown king who wept when he found out he had to play another month here and is signed for another 11 years.
The whole discussion is moot anyway, since Cory is staying and Lou is going and that's just the way the math stacks up son.

I have decided that Luongo will go to the Panthers for Matthias.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Re: Luongo and Schneider Revisited (or is it continued?)
^^^^ Note in the off-season Strangelove repeatedly asked for Petrovic + Matthias + 2nd... FOR... Luongo.
Most here said that wasn't enough for Lou.
Of course that was when Matthias scored an average of one goal every ten NHL games.
That was BEFORE Matthias scored 14 goals in 48 games this past season.
So ummmmm Petrovic + Matthias... FOR... Luongo + Tanev + Schroeder??
