How could you forget about Kopitar in 2005???
Well in fairness to Mëds, a lot of people seemed to want Kopitar before the Canucks took Bourdon.. one of a few cases where we can criticize without the benefit of hindsight.

However, seeing as Luc is dead as a doornail... we shoulda taken Kopitar. :sly:

Should definitely be a lot more fun and interesting than the previous few years.

Should be at least one major trade, a change behind the bench, maybe a buyout, some interesting FAs out there and a pretty deep draft.
Especially with DL back!

And hopefully some kind of adjustments on scouting the juniors and where they draft from, it's like they never want to draft anyone local!

It's put up or shut up time now.
Yessir.

The main criticism of Gillis has been that he inherited a good core from Nonis/Burke, and hasn't built the team himself. The defense has been "why would we blow up a contending team that we think has what it takes to win the cup." With Gillis it's always been a tweak here and a tweak there to add some depth or augment in one way or another. In his defense, the additions of Malhotra, Lapierre, Higgins, Torres, Hamhuis, Garrison and Tanev have all been positive.

Well, now it's clear as sunshine that this group, as currently constructed, does not have what it takes.

Your move Mikey.

I don't know why the Canucks scouts/management hate the WHL so much, but I don't see why the team can't scout and pick a player from our own backyard once in awhile, it's like they think it's lazy to just scout around here even though there are many good BC players being produced nowadays.

This will be Mikey's time to establish himself on whether he has the goods to be a great GM or a shitty one. The shadow he has been hiding under is no longer there, it's time for him earn his keep now, about time. I don't have much faith in the Players Agent to pull it off. Finally, the pressure is now where it's suppose to be, on him. If this team shits the bed again next playoffs, he's out of job.

The draft works this way:

*****Vancouver Canucks Draft******

10 Wait for call to podium

20 Approach podium

30 make pick

40 If RD = liked pick then "Future Calder Trophy Winner!" else "Total Failure as a GM"

50 If Canucks = more picks to be made then goto 20 else 60

60 RD complains

70 end

Wait a minute the complaining never ends....
