I think Mg will try to avoid the buy outs if he can and yes if he doesn't use them this off season he has them for next off season. But then the cap should go back up no?

He has to get through one season of cap pain and I trust he and Gillman will do so. And for the record, I haven't heard that he has been "forbidden" to use the buy out, only that the water boy is not a fan of them. So I would suggest he has probably been told to do whatever he can to avoid being in that position. But I tend to agree that the water boy has not been reluctant to spend money to allow MG to ice the best team possible and I doubt he would close the door on that option if it meant icing a better team. It is and always has been about winning with them and for that I think we should all be grateful of the ownership we have. But I also believe MG will do what he can to avoid these buy outs, unless he hits a home run of a trade that necessitates him taking back a horrible deal that needs to be bought out, but I don't believe the Dipietro shiite. One of the problems with making a Luongo deal last season was he absolutely did not want to take back a bad long term deal so I can't really see that changing unless he is out of options.

Its hard listening to him to know what is really going on as he always paints a rosy picture. I just hope the season ends Saturday so the real show can begin!

Obviously he would avoid buying out players who are already Canucks... preferring trades.

But taking on a bad contract for a buyout along with a top prospect is something I'm sure he's interested in.

We're talking about the opportunity to BUY a great young player.

No way does a rich team pass up this kind of opportunity.

Here's a way, get a young top-6 forward on a cheap contract along with a player on a bad contract which you buyout. Image

Water boy must be a fan of taking on a bad contract for a buyout along with a top prospect.

Wait.... so you agree?? :eh:

Nope. Aquaman is raking in money hand over fist from we fans.

If he wants that to continue he BETTER improve the team through the kind of reinvestment I'm going on about.

And on about.

And on about.

The fucker just raised ticket prices AGAIN and the natives are getting restless.

What I'm talking about is making a wise business decision.

But like I say, I'm sure he's already on board with this scheme.

It's what we used to refer to as "common sense". :mex:

He doesn't want to take back a bad contract in the Luongo trade

... because he shouldn't have to take back a bad contract in the Luongo trade.

BTW I'm not talking about taking a bad contract back in the Luongo trade either.

That's because being an NHL GM is like playing poker.

And THAT'S why it's so funny when fans hang on a GM's every word.

I've got a hunch the Luongo trade is going to happen very quickly after the season ends.

Doc,

I have absolutely no objection to MG using the two amnesty buy outs. Why should I, it isn't my money and it has no impact on the cap moving forward. It may however have an impact on ticket prices etc going forward because the water boy, along with wanting to win, wants to make money.

Frankly I can't come up with one good reason why any fan would object to an amnesty buy out. And I have no objection to your idea of using one or two to land a good player and or prospect or move up significantly in the draft.

And Edler should only be traded if MG hits a home run!
