Pure class. Not mad at MG, disappointed that other teams don't think he is worth the value. Confirmed he was never asked to waive and refused to do so. Said he never had an opportunity to waive. Shoots The media theory down, once again. Although McLean still insist somebody close to the Panthers, but not with the team, told him to wait. Not that it matters because now McLean say's the leaves never made an offer. These guys are a joke.

Luongo sounded frustrated and disappointed but at the same time committed to doing whatever he can to help the Canucks win. I think once he gets over the disappointment he will be fine the rest of the year.

When asked if he has though of telling MG he will refuse to move so trade Cory I loved how he said no, he would do that that Cory is the natural progressing moving forward.

Unless they were getting back players that could help them this year I am glad they held onto him. Draft picks or prospects will be fine in the off season.

I want to see Tampa, Florida(already have), Washington, the Flyers and the leaves have horrible goaltending here on out. Fuck them all insulting poor luongo by offering scarps and blaming it on his contract, a contract he would galdly give up if he could

Nice that he is not blaming MG for this one.

Time now to move ahead.

On Luongo - listening to his press conference just killed any and all value he may have had. He admitted his contract 'sucks' and that it's a hit to his pride that nobody wants to give up anything for him. Gillis and Lu have sure made a clusterf*ck of this situation, he should have been moved a while back so the team can move on.

AV had better be firm with his commitment to Schneids moving forward, because if he keeps doing the coin thing or pulls Schneids after a bad game the media is going to have a field day with it during the playoffs.
I just don't see your issue with Luongo on the squad or the way its been handled at all.
Look this is a guy who means instant playoff spot for any team in the league, yes his contract is a concern right now but its a ownership concern not a hockey concern.
Gillis would have to be a fool to give up Luongo for a second round pick and a warm body... Fuck that, Luongo ain't hurting anybody on the bench till the summer and he may yet play a part this playoff if Cory gets hurt or stumbles for any reason... As in, Charlie horse in the last second of game six against Chicago.
The big bad sucky contract everyone whines about will be not so insurmountable once other teams exercise their buyouts in the summer and then we can get back something worthwhile.

I don't think that makes his contract any harder to move. A calculator goes a lot further in proving his contract sucks than any statements do.

AV is proving more and more that he doesn't have an answer for optimizing his players and he is running out of time to find one.

I can't help but feel disappointed. Not disappointed that Luongo wasn't traded. I think I have come to realize we won't get fair market value so I'd rather that deal be made in the summer. But disappointed that there was nothing else there to be had that could helps us. At the same time I am glad we didn't ditch all our picks. I guess I just hoped that MG would be able to plug holes.

Here is hoping that a healthy Canucks team with the addition of Roy is better than I think they are.

I think the Nucks with a healthy Kesler and Roy on the 3rd line will be a solid contender. That said, this Lu thing is a complete and utter screwup by Gillis and Lu, and that's coming from somebody who is usually a big Gillis fan. He really should have traded him given this will be a distraction for both Lu and Schneids for the rest of this season - who plays the next game when one of them has a bad start? The media will have a field day with this.

Lu was classy in the press conference, but he sure screwed Gillis and the Nucks by saying 'my contract sucks' and 'without it I would have been moved'. It really messes up any potential value he might have had, I believe the Nucks are going to have to eat some of that money and likely get little in return even in the off-season.

I concur with HW. Canada.com currently running the online tag of "Bobby-Lou no-one wants you"

Pretty bad commentary. Must have come from a Toronto writer.

Don't they get it's the cap and not the salary and term that matter with respect to the team cap. His cap hit, for a number one is only 5.3. That isn't a problem. Yes, the term is difficult but it is a moveable contract and the acquiring team has an out.
It's just the Le(a)f(t) whores doing the spin to try and get the price down.

Seriously, they have a hard-on for their masters and a hate on for the Canucks.
This comment makes no sense. The player in question said in his own words no one wanted him. His contract is the issue, not the asking price.

Have you listened to the TSN panel ever? They slag the leaves much more than the Canucks.

It can be as simple as, will you be open to remaining with us beyond this contract, yes or no. Making a deal and vaguely inquiring about desire are different things.

Let's just say none of that has happened, then why is the media reporting it unless it's misdirection coming from the leaves?

If it's misdirection, then you can say it's a bluff.
BigTuna wrote: If Luongo is a better option, why the hell hasn't he been traded yet?
Luo is a better goalie, whether Luo gets traded first or not doesn't change that.

Regardless, I've been on board with saying we should keep Luo for this season unless they get something that helps them now. A pick and prospect deal can be made in the summer, and even these pundits agree Luo can be had for that type of deal but VAN wants an immediate impact.

Because they're simply wrong. The leaves don't own the TO media like you think. Our local media craps on the team more than any media does in Canada.

Isn't Darren Dreger the Cheeseburglers cousin?

He the insider alright...inside the blow hole:
Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger
Canucks called at 2pm...made a trade offer, Tor declined. Van called at 2:30 with 2nd offer, Tor declined...3rd offer at 2:45pm...decline.

Now They say the Bullin Wall is the perfect fit for the leaves.
The pundits were right. Yzerman gave up a lot to get him.
