From other boards it looks like Utica, New York is a strong possibility. Syracuse owner is on record as saying he'd waive his territorial rights because he believes it will bring a great new rivalry (thus putting more people in seats).
Utica was where the Flames were rumoured to be moving Abbotsford when everyone thought the canucks would move Peoria to that barn.

AHL complications...
Utica wants a team and is willing to talk guaranteed revenue because they don’t have much else to sell. They have an old, beaten up facility, which seats 4,000 and needs major refurbishing to get up to AHL standards.
If the Canucks go in there for a couple of years, it’s a sure money pit if they don’t have the city willing to offer up the public trough.
Abbotsford desperately wants the Canucks and it wasn’t an Abbotsford-Vancouver negotiation where this all fell apart.
It’s partially true the Flames were willing to move on, and leave their deal behind. They were not, however, eager to do
it. There are a couple places they’re willing to go, but they’re not ready right now for an AHL team. So, to part ways
with BC and this glorious deal, Calgary wanted money. A lot of money.

I don't really care where they go I just want to have our own farm team where we have control on player development. I still think Abbotsford would be ideal from a fan base point of view.

I suppose they'll keep them in the AHL Western conference to keep things balanced. Wish they'd get pushed to the East, I've got 3 eastern AHL teams an hour's drive away...could check out the baby canucks a few times a year.

Many teams keep similar branding to their parent club, texas stars, worcester sharks, albany devils etc. And take the NHL logo and convert it a bit to their city.
I think it would be wise to keep the name of Canucks for Utica, it's like free advertising on the EastCoast.

Can simply take our stick in rink logo and turn it 90 degrees ccw for 'u'.
