Nice, I'm just happy to solidy our playoff positioning and move up on the the Wild a bit, but mostly I'm glad to distance ourselves from the Coyotes and Stars. :D

Watching Burrows last night vs Edmonton and I realized he's not snake bitten. His hand/eye or stick/puck coordination is not where it was. It isn't just scoring chances he's missing but passes, clearing attempts, pucks along the boards, he's mishandling the puck all over the ice.

Jeff Paterson ‏@patersonjeff
#Canucks Schroeder says he's ready to go. Off IR. Wants to play. Waiting for word from coaches. Stanton says he's ready too

Stanton's return could finally stabilize the defense. Hopefully, Sullivan could cut back some minutes on the top-four.

#Canucks Update: Jordan Schroeder will play for @UticaComets this weekend on a conditioning stint.

Jeff Paterson ‏@patersonjeff
I asked Schroder 10 minutes ago about whether he should start with Utica. He said he didn't want to. Guess it's not his call

Kind of surprising they sent Schroeder down given the state of the center ice position and Vancouver, not to mention the Zac Dalpe Experience TM.

Edit: The Comets are in town this weekend to face the Heat, which may have been a factor.

I think giving him a game or two with the Comets is smart and as you point out he only has to travel to Abbotsford. Why not have that game?

Yeah, I can see both sides.

On the one side, Schroeder has only played three games this year and had a handful of practices in the past few days, so he's bound to be rusty and out of game shape.

On the other hand, could he really be any worse or less effective than Dalpe and Lain?

Sullivan stated this afternoon in his presser that the plan is for Schroeder to play two games in Abbotsford for Utica this weekend (Friday and Saturday) as a conditioning stint. I guess that means he'll be available to the Canucks Sunday.

Henrik is day-to-day still.

Santorelli is "a little more than day-to-day" - whatever that means.

Is Dalpe really that bad? I noticed that his skating and conditioning has improved quite a bit in the last few games. He also had a few good scoring chances as well. Given his age, he could still be a useful 3rd or 4th line centre down the road.

It's not that Dalpe has been that bad, but he hasn't been much good either to warrant anything more than 4th line minutes. He's had a chance or two to show his chops but outside of a blind-squirrel-finding-a-nut goal, he hasn't done much except not be an absolute liability out there.

Hopefully Schroeds gets up to speed quickly against Abbotsford and can start to prove he can fill 2nd line minutes and get Richardson and Lain back to their customary 3rd/4th line C roles. See what he can do and hopefully he showcases himself a bit to be a part of a bigger trade. ;)

Once JS is back it will be Lain they send back to Utica. I doubt they risk losing Dalpe on waivers at this point. Lain is here for a short look see. With Hank out I can see them trying to get JS in on the second line and Dalpe and Richardson will drop down accordingly. Other than size Lain doesn't bring anything more than Dalpe right now.

I agree that Lain is here just for a look. He needs more time in Utica.

I thought Welsh had more promise as a fourth liner than Dalpe.

Dalpe has been a disappointment IMO. He brings very little to the table and in the seven minutes or so a game he has plays you know his line is probably not going to score and there is a decent chance he will get scored on. He doesn’t do anything particularly well, and doesn’t bring anything to the fourth line in terms of hitting or physicality. His shot seems to be OK, but I think if you have Dalpe in your top 9 your team probably sucks pretty bad.

For a guy who has put up points in the AHL and has average NHL size, he just has not translated well to the NHL. I can see why the Hurricanes gave up on him. Dalpe would be a great player to have in Utica next year to supplement the youngsters we are going to have there.

Dalpe is handy only if he is not subject to waivers.
