Injury update: Dan Hamhuis suffered a facial fracture above his mouth during last night’s game. He remains in excellent care and will undergo surgery tomorrow. A recovery timeline will be determined in the coming days.

Fuck, hopefully he's back by the deadline. This is going to sink his trade value, dude will be a pipe cleaner if he gets back in time.Cornuck wrote:Injury update: Dan Hamhuis suffered a facial fracture above his mouth during last night’s game. Re: Canucks News and Notes
Comets announce signing of 24-year-old AHL vet David Shields to a PTO. A likely precursor to a Canucks blue line call up. From Carol Schram.
It is anticipated that the Canucks will call up Fedun in order to carry 7 D men with both Sbisa and now Hamhuis out. No word yet on Hamhuis status. It may take a couple of days after the surgery to have a clearer picture about whether he will return this season or not.
Canucks still looking to make a potential deal but will probably wait until after the Christmas trade freeze, which begins Dec 19. Tinordi's name being bantered about if the price is not too high. Perhaps a forward on Utica who will not be exempt from waivers next year?

Tinordi being Pedan's teammate... That's kind of awkward.Hockey Widow wrote:Comets announce signing of 24-year-old AHL vet David Shields to a PTO. A likely precursor to a Canucks blue line call up. From Carol Schram.

Hamhuis out "at least" 2 months, so he might be back mid-February?Rumsfeld wrote:Fuck, hopefully he's back by the deadline. So glad we decided to hang on to Hammer, Vrbata, Burrows and Higgins until they are worth nothing. Really smart. Taking a page from the '09 Flames.

Feb. 29th.
h̶a̶ *you're welcome Max.
With that I get a feeling playoffs or not Hamhuis will stay till July 1st, who knows if they re-sign or trade him.

Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

That's the estimated recovery time after 48 hours.Island Nucklehead wrote:Hamhuis out "at least" 2 months, so he might be back mid-February?Rumsfeld wrote:Fuck, hopefully he's back by the deadline. That number will change after 2 weeks. It might change again at 3 or 4 weeks.
Obviously we don't now the extent of the fracture(s?), but it is possible that we see him skating again in as soon as 4 weeks and back to full practice in 5-6.
Tons of players have returned from having their broken jaw wired shut within a week.....they just play on pain killers and with a full shield. Granted this is a facial fracture and not jaw, so swelling etc could be problematic and limit his airway, blah blah blah.
My point is that lots of players return earlier than the initial estimate.....some return later too.
Re: Canucks News and Notes
Fedun was injured last game and is out for a couple of weeks... so will probably be Pedan...

Ya, Benning should have known he'd take a puck to the face 2.5 months away from the TDD. Fucking Benning!

Bad shit happens when you wait till the last minute. All the players I mentioned were depreciating assets as of last summer and should have been on the block then.Hockey Widow wrote:Rumsfeld wrote:Yeah we're fucked.Island Nucklehead wrote:Hamhuis out "at least" 2 months, so he might be back mid-February?Rumsfeld wrote:Fuck, hopefully he's back by the deadline. But when you have ridiculous aspirations of doing something in the playoffs with a team of proven losers, like you and your buddy Jimbo apparently do, this is the kind of shit that happens. Easily could have had another 1st in next year's draft and now we have jack shit.
Believe it or not, some people were smart enough to see this type of situation coming and wanted to dump Hamhuis last summer. Not surprised you're once again among the blindsided.

You mean like trading away Kesler, Bieksa, Luongo, Lack and Schenider?Rumsfeld wrote:Taking a page from the '09 Flames.
There are 8 players left on this team from the last run - it could be down to 5 or 6 next season, there's been lots of turnover....

Two of those guys demanded a trade.
I think we could do a lot better than that in the way of acquiring picks and prospects while are vets were still producing. The writing's been on the wall for a long time now.

Yep, and how many did we let walk as UFA's or trade for a return that we ended up letting go of?Rumsfeld wrote:Three of those guys are goalies.vic wrote:You mean like trading away Kesler, Bieksa, Luongo, Lack and Schenider?Rumsfeld wrote:Taking a page from the '09 Flames.
