I'm guessing throwing in the towel on the season is turning into an opportunity to give Tryamkin a "tryout" without him having to prove himself in camp first. If he does well he'll be more confident and likely to show up for camp rather than return to the KHL. I'd be shocked if Pedan does not get called up as well.

Also confirmed that they are trying to get to Trymakin under contract. Those negotiations are going very well and they are hopeful that he will be playing for the Canucks before the end of the season

Benning is saying there was no deal for Verbata or any good one for Hammer. His other choice would be to make shitty trades. Glad he did not do that to please fan base and this gives me more respect for him. Hammer is going to sign here anyway so all we lose is Verbata and his salary. Sounds good to me. Sometimes Vancouver fans sound like whiny kids who did not get a treat when they wanted it. I am of course not referring to this thread or any of its revered posters, but the rest....

Brad Ziemer reporting that the Canucks and Tryamkin's NY based agent are denying the reports that a deal has been reached and the kid is on his way to Vancouver. Says Benning is still working to resolve issues and reach an agreement to get him released before his contract expires April 30th but nothing finalized yet.

Benning has said they will have no cap issues in signing him and that reports about needing to clear cap space are totally false. The issues are in negotiating his release. His contract his governed by the ELC limits so that is not expected to be an issue. Benning also wants him in Vancouver and not Utica so that is not a problem.

Sounds like some tweeter just having fun with false reports.

I'll forgive you for not being "impressed" by Dorsett or Sbisa, but they fill roles at the NHL level.

We had to get a stopgap middle 6 centre back in the Kesler deal and that had to be Bonino.

Stopgap Bonino was traded for Foundational Sutter.

6-28-2014 Linden Vey

Vey was a gamble (for the 50th o/a) that may not pay off. (shrug)

7-1-2014 Ryan Miller

Miller is an average #1 goalie on an average #1 goalie salary.

No assets were given up to acquire him.

7-2-2014 Radim Vrbata

Vrbata was hailed by all of the top hockey pundits as the best UFA signing of 2014.

It was interesting today that Benning said the club will have 17+ million in free cap for FA season. The plus being whatever the cap increases by, if it increases.

Got me think g about who won't be back.

Hamhuis. 4.5
Bartkowski 1.75
Weber. 1.5
Higgins. 2.5


So does that mean no Hamhuis or is he one of the targets? Or do they already figure him at 3-4 m? I wonder who on that list they will keep. The only one besides Hamhuis I could see is Bartkowski.

Linden also said today that they would like to keep Sutter with the twins next year. Wonder who of Hansen and Burrows will be gone.

The fun part of the season is almost here. That time when we all get to build a contender
