A standard NHL contract! What a genius! You guys are hilarious.
Well considering that last time he re-signed a defenseman before the end of the season he overpaid for a large pepperoni.....to the tune of $3.6M.

I'm sure that Blobcat is doing a jig and thanking the hockey gods that Benning didn't give Biega $2.5M per.

As much as people dislike Sbisa, he is a 6'2" defenseman that was drafted 19th overall in 2008. He has played 385 NHL games (including playoffs). On the hand, Biega is only a 5'10" defenseman that was drafted 147th overall in 2006. At age 27, he has only played a grand total on 32 NHL games.

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

A cap-ceiling team providing a cap-basement performance, complete with useless vets being lost on waivers with nothing in return.

Genius. What a master plan. You guys probably give yourselves a big pat on the back every morning just for making it into work.

Cap space is a return, especially when when the cap appears to be stagnant.

Speaking of which, the CBA negotiated by Bettman is looking better and better. No wonder the owners extended his deal. Could you imagine the NHLPA's guaranteed cap increases in this economic environment.

If cap space is a return, wasting massive amounts of cap space on terrible players is a fuck-up. You can't have it both ways.

Contending teams should be worried about cap space. Garbage lottery teams like us shouldn't be anywhere near the limit in the first place.

It would be great if they were lost on waivers, then we wouldn't be saddled with a $3.1M cap hit.

There are no "cap-basement" teams this year:

http://www.generalfanager.com/teams

Most teams are close to the "cap-ceiling".

You hate your team.

So you expect something in return for "useless vets"?

BTW which vets have been "lost on waivers"?

Gentleman Jim could yet trade Prust/Higgins at the deadline.

There are 10-15 teams with significantly more cap space than us.

Yes, I would expect a player we traded Kassian and a 5th for to be worth more than nothing.

Yes, I would expect we could have gotten a nice return for Higgins (and Burrows) if we had traded them after their good seasons last summer. Instead, Benning quite stupidly thought we were a playoff contender, and now it's too late to get anything of value for them. The fact that the entire hockey world (with the exception of Benning) knew we were not a playoff team makes this even more frustrating.

No, I do not hate my team, but I can see why some of our delusional fans get mocked quite a lot. Remember when you used to spend your entire summer on the Leaves board, attacking strangers 3000 miles away for insisting they had a good team and a good GM?

Lol, how the worm has turned.

Wrong. :D

So Kassian is one of your "useless vets"?

Rehab Kassian had negative value (he went unclaimed on waivers).

Linden is on record as saying they tried to trade Higgins last summer - no one wanted him.

But yeah, you'd make a great NHL GM bro!

The entire hockey world thinks we have a bad GM, but somehow five dorks on Canuckscorner.com have seen through the facts and are valiantly exposing Benning's genius to the world. How brave.

So you take Linden the puppet at his word when he says something, but when the Bennster says something it always means something else.

Benning wont even admit we are a rebuilding team!

Pauser said Linden said something, lol. You are so desperate, man!

Five dorks on HF convinced most Canuck fans they have a bad GM (not hard to do at the beginning of a rebuild)

... and together they convinced a lot of the "hockey world" (why would anyone argue with them).

The fact is that Benning is doing a fantastic job with this rebuild. 8-)

There is no rebuild.

St. Benning said so.

And hockey executives must always be taken at their word, like when Pauser said he talked to Linden about Higgins.

LMAO.
