Yeah affordable young up and coming quality players to play with the still youthful Getzlaf and Perry while averaging down their overall cost.

And they're in our division now right.

sigh indeed.

Silvferberg definitely has potential but he's largely unproven. He has flashes but disappears. He's not a lightweight like soon-to-be-flame but he doesn't have Ryan's size. I don't know if Noesen is going to help them next season, and a 1st is a 1st.

Decent move by both the Ducks and the Sens, but you knew that kind of trade was not going to happen between the Ducks and the Canucks - for the same reason Schneider was never going to go to Edmonton for the price Jersey paid (if Gillis would have traded him there at all).

Put it this way - would you rather see Ryan coming down the wing with the puck at Luongo or Silfverberg? I would choose the latter as a Canuck fan.

Yea I was sort of going for the long term view.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
MIN trades Devin Setoguchi to WPG for a draft pick.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
WPG sends 2nd round pick in 2014 to MIN for Devin Setoguchi.
A pretty good deal for the Jets.

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

The media folks that actually cover the Bruins have called bullshit on that security guard stuff.

That said, he may have a touch of the O'Brien in him.

Silfverberg may be unproven in the NHL, but he has *HUGE* potential. His last season in the SEL (now renamed the SHL) he won the Swedish equivalents of Hart, Conn Smythe and Lady Byng and scored the championship winning goal while setting a new record for goals scored in the playoffs. All at the tender age of 21...

It may take him another year or two to adapt to the NHL, but he'll become a major star once he does.

I take Tyler Seguin and Dougie Hamilton 11 times out of 10 over Phill Kessel. Not to mention Kessel is a UFA while the other two are cost controlled for the next several years.
I realize that it's de rigueur around here to hate the leaves and all their works, but this trade provides further evidence of what is already clear: Phil Kessel is better than Tyler Seguin. Hamilton might still end up tipping the scales but on the whole that trade is not as bad as it is made out to be.

Seguin makes 5.7m (in Sedin territory)... not sure how that is "cost controlled". Kessel's next contract won't be much higher than that, if at all. That's first line money and Seguin has yet to show he's a first line player. The Bruins aren't exactly loaded with scorers, yet Seguin still can't assert himself as part of the core? Kessel has proven to be a first liner, in spades. Look at the numbers... regular season, playoffs (4G against Boston, or 4x as many goals as Seguin managed in 1/3 the games).
