The Linden to the Islanders trade was a very good trade. It also helped Nonis (Bertuzzi to Florida) in getting Luongo from Florida (Keenan) was the Florida GM who handed Nonis - Luongo on a silver platter to the Canucks. Bertuzzi's game wasn't what it used to be when he landed in Florida. Keenan was a little too obsessed with Bertuzzi.

Lots of trading history with the Panthers - McCabe helped us get the Sedins. Bure helped us getting Jovanovski, Bertuzzi helped us in getting Luongo

Gillis got us Booth and Ballard

Well Booth loves to "shoot", so do I. :)
But he needs "bait" to get the job done. :scowl:

I believe the 2000 1st pick Burke got back from Florida in the Bure trade a year prior was packaged with McCabe in landing the Sedins

nah the only good thing he did was changing the old 94' boy philosophy here, now is the time to win & create a winning enviro for the future.

His trades may not have all been gold, but Linden for Bertuzzi, McCabe and a 3rd rounder (Ruutu) is one of the best trades that I can remember for the Canucks in the last 30 years.

I remember those last few weeks when the only important thing was to get Bure to the 50 goal mark to increase
his trade value. It was an ugly time for fans. Bure had already made it VERY clear nothing on Gawds good green planet could keep him in Van.

Which in time got us the WCE, and Burke used Cabe to nab the Sedins.

But Keenster and Messier took this franchise as a heist and fucked it all up.
That team was a putrid mess when Keenan started gutting it. He tore it apart like it needed to be. He was a very smart man who started re shaping the team when he was in the GM chair.

We all know you love Captain Hook because he dumped Captain Trev (whom you despised).

And was there ever a version of your Vancouver Canucks you didn't want "torn apart"? :scowl:

Iron Mike was GM of your Vancouver Canucks for a few months.

And yes he "tore it apart" (at least 8 trades in those few months).

But was it with rhyme/reason?

Or was he just a blind self-serving monkey flinging his poop at a wall?

(all that stuck was the Linden fling - a great trade as it turned out)

Here is a partial list of MK Ultra's trades as GM of your Vancouver Canucks:

http://canuckscorner.com/2015/01/03/tic ... es-a-deal/

(notice your response at the bottom)

There are reasons why Krazy Keenan was exiled to Siberia.

Listen here to what the Golden Brett has to say bout dat dere:

Did Ironhead tear apart your Vancouver Canucks because he hated your Vancouver Canucks?

Does Ironhead hate everyone and everything except himself?

Should we have locked Ironhead up in your Essondale when he was here?

Yes he was an asshole and yes I love assholes

... but I prefer well-balanced ones upon the throne.

BTW was there ever a dysfunctional GM of your Vancouver Canucks named Mike

... that you didn't love?

None of those trades were bad, other than maybe running Gelinas out of town . The Linden trade was an ass raping of the Islanders. Linden was a very overrated player during his first tenure here. Keenan did what Pat Quinn was too lazy to do.

Let's not forget how he screwed Luongo in Florida and gift wrapped him for Nonis. Why? Because Luongo had the nerve to hold out for what he felt he was worth and sucked up to Panthers ownership. Keenan showed him who was boss even though everyone thought Luongo's new deal was all but done. It cost Keenan his job in Florida eventually.

But carry on. Best GM we ever had. One very good/great trade and all else is forgiven. And it was a very good trade for us, one that eventually helped us grab both twins to boot.

The questions remain, why was Linden reacquired, and after doing so, why wasn't he bought out at the initial buyout window?

Yeah well probably not a great idea to have a psychopath at the helm.

And aside from the blind-squirrel-finding-a-nut Linden trade

... the combined effect of all those other trades was fairly brutal.

This by no means complete, I don't think, but it's a trip down memory lane for some eh?
