Except for the expansion draft I'm not impressed with McPhee's GMing.
Giving up a lot for Tatar then a lot for Pacioretty. First year success went to his head. That's a lot of first and second rounders for an expansion team to surrender and all they have for it is Pacioretty.

Well, he can make a few mistakes and still be considered a genius, right? Right?Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Mon Sep 10, 2018 10:10 am Except for the expansion draft I'm not impressed with McPhee's GMing.

Kinda my point in a backhanded way. Benning gets creamed for his trades yet McPhee seems to get a pass.

Vegas has been a wonderful story in it's first year and it will more than likely, be a playoff team again this year.
When the suckage inevitably happens when they must rebuild, retool, tank (lol), all the bright lights in the world
will not create patience in a major gambling mecca. Not as bad as Atlanta, but bad. A struggle.
Not a matter of if, just when.
Because of the method of player acquisitions in a modern day NHL expansion system, their rebuild will start
very soon.
Trading high end picks is the worst thing they can do.

Am I the only one who thinks Tatar is overrated? I'm not saying he's bad, I just don't think he's grown beyond what he came into the league at. He plateaued at year 1. He'll need to be the sniper for the Hab's plethora of setup men. Hopefully the Habs can pump and dump the 125cc Suzuki.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.
I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

The possibility of Pacioretty getting 30 goals is high.
Tartar has not but came close (except once) and is ~35 - 45 points per season, Suzuki looks good but we all have seen many 100 point junior players never make the NHL. The deal looks fair.

VGK gave up 1st, 2nd and a 3rd last year for Tatar.Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Sun Sep 09, 2018 11:17 pmThat’s a decent return for Montreal. Didn’t Vegas give up a 1st for Tatar?Reefer2 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 09, 2018 10:56 pm Trade between Montreal and Vegas

Not a bad haul for Pac, but then Vegas has enoug assets to do the deal.
Now trade Tatar, a top prospect and a 2nd for Pacioretty and just gave give him a 4x7m contract extension.
So basically gave up a 1st, two 2nds, a 3rd and a top prospect for Pacioretty. wow
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

That Tatar deal was baffling the second it was done. Not sure what McPhee was smoking during that one.SKYO wrote: ↑Mon Sep 10, 2018 12:37 pmVGK gave up 1st, 2nd and a 3rd last year for Tatar.Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Sun Sep 09, 2018 11:17 pmThat’s a decent return for Montreal. Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
After this trade Vegas still has their first next year two 2nds and three 3rds to go along with a 4 two fives a 6 and a 7 this team has picks up the ass including 3 2nd rounders in 2020 to go along with a first... In the next 2 years they have 6 picks in the first 3 rounds 2019 and 4 picks in the first 2 rounds the following 2020....Don't feel sorry for them and MORE IMPORTANTLY don't sleep on them they got more than enough ammo to go get the d man from Ottawa and still stock their cupboards while remaining competitive and a destination for UFA's...

Was t that top prospect also a 1st round pick? So like two 1sts, two 2nds and a third.SKYO wrote: ↑Mon Sep 10, 2018 12:37 pmVGK gave up 1st, 2nd and a 3rd last year for Tatar.Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Sun Sep 09, 2018 11:17 pmThat’s a decent return for Montreal. Add to that Tatar getting benched for 12 of their 20 playoff gamesRichardstroker69 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 10, 2018 1:00 pmThat Tatar deal was baffling the second it was done. ... and averaging just 12:25 minutes per game when he did play
... and McPhee really looks bad.
Knights are retaining $500K per season (3 more seasons) on Tatar.
I could see Tatar bouncing back to 25 goals in the right situation.
But I don't think he'll be in the right situation in Montreal.

I believe that was conditional as part of the trade.

StalWART Luca Sbisa has managed to muster up a PTO.
I would have thought he would have gotten a long term deal at good money. Well I would have thought that if I actually believed the people who were pumping his tires.
But I’m the one who doesn’t watch the games.
