Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
$3m next year is dicey.
That being said, a left-shooting winger who can moonlight at center, win draws and contribute at both ends of the ice? Sounds like a pretty fitting linemate for one Jordan Schroeder.
(Well.. ideal would be a grittier type like Steve Ott, but he won't be hitting waivers any time soon.)
If I thought it was going to take $3.5m to keep Mason Raymond around next year I'd be sorely tempted to pick up Jokinen now at $3m.

is juicy jokinen a bit of a shootout specialist too or is that another guy?
Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Mats Zuccarello, aka the Norwegian Hobbit Wizard, is returning to the Rangers after having spent this season with Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the KHL.
A little to small to really succeed in the NHL, but fantastic soft hands and he's definitely a shootout specialist.

Isn't Jusi shootout gold?
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.
I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Yes, according to Wikipedia his shootout success rate is north of 50%.
Jokinen being signed for $3M next year would make picking him up harder to swallow, but he would be a "free" asset in terms of it costing nothing other than cash to bring him in.

MAF hurt, possible concussion.

Hope he is OK but what a stinker that would be for the Pens, gearing up for a run at the cup and MAF hurt. Maybe if they trade for Iginla he can persuade Kipper to go with him, just in case.

How is this bad news for Pittsburgh? Did you not see Fleury's implosion against Philly last year?Hockey Widow wrote:MAF hurt, possible concussion.

I wonder if the Pens feel sorry for us regarding Kesler?

Hmmm... if juicey can play 3rd line centre (being good defensively and good on faceoffs), I wouldn't mind grabbing him. We never properly replaced Malhotra and could use some help there. We could really use a shootout specialist too considering most of our guys seem kind of uncomfortable and not very confident when in that position.

I don't want him. 9 points and -7 this year and a history of brain fartz... -3 career on a high flying offensive team....dbr wrote:A 1st and a prospect, jesus.Uncle dans leg wrote:According to Lebrun the Nux are kicking the tires on Ryan Clowe

We could do a hell of a lot better for a 1st and a prospect...and Luo....
I love every move Jim Benning makes
Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
No thanks to that asking price for Clowe.
Would I want Gillis to go after FA Clowe? Absolutely. But a first round pick and a prospect for a guy who has been showing signs of slowing down and was never a dominant force to begin with AND could be purely a rental player anyway? No way.
