Who knows meds, LA may have no choice but to pay Doughty $10M-$11M per, he and Kopitar are their key pieces, they'll just really have to try to move some difficult NTC players by moving prospects/picks with em.
A long time ago, a baseball player remarked: "If I owned a ballclub, I'd hire a $5,000 coach and a $15,000 scout."

They'll probably end moving one of Toffoli or Pearson and one of Muzzin or Martinez, much easier to do that.

Irfaan Gaffar sportsnet:

Evander Kane has re-signed 7x7 with the Sharks.

Well, I'm fine with the Canucks not out-bidding that contract. Strange that SJ would go 7 years, but not 8...

Turned into a great trade for buffalo as well, who now get a 1st.

I'm not surprised, $7M x 7 is what I've been saying he'd get for some time now...

He was a good fit for SJS. I think it’s a good city and a good team for him. Close to home too.

I would have been ok with him here but it’s a few years too early in our development. He was probably tired of rebuilding teams too.

Whew

The Sharks are getting old. Times-up.
Kane is a piece they need for their rebuild.
Something to keep the fans going to games in the interim.

I thought there was a wee, wee bit of a chance he would have gave a big fat home-town discount
to his beloved Vancouver but nah, it'a the money, (dirty rat).
Oh well, fuckit, we got stuff. ;)

I've thrown up this site on averages before but just look at those three California teams in age.
This was before the twins retired. There's some other nifty shit as well.

We don't look too bad moving forward, that is if circumstances shine positively.
Could maybe do with a couple of dudes with some dynamic personalities, (good ones), you know what I mean.

Don't want a team of automatons yet suspensions every couple of games is not spiffy either.
Just want a team capable of winning the Stanley Cup 4 of the next 6 years, that's all...

Agreed, I'm just saying wouldn't have wanted to have to beat that offer, plus the premium for not playing in the sunshine, higher taxes, etc.

I wouldn't have wanted him at 7x$7.5, which is at least where the open market bidding would have got to.

Helluva game 2 tonight. I really want the caps for this one. No teams should be able to cherry pick a roster and win a cup right off the hop when we've suffered an eternal damnation of mediocrity with zero cups in what 50 years?

Fuck you NHL
nobody forks...with the jesus

Poor Ottawa:

From some paper:

Ottawa Senators assistant general manager Randy Lee was arrested Thursday night and charged with second-degree harassment at an arraignment hearing on Friday in Buffalo, N.Y., according to Erie County District Attorney John Flynn.

Lee was accused of rubbing the shoulders of a 19-year-old male shuttle bus driver and making lewd comments, Flynn said in a press conference after the arraignment.

The alleged altercation happened on a shuttle bus Thursday night as Lee was being taken from a downtown restaurant and bar back to his hotel.

The driver reported the incident to security upon returning to the hotel, who in turn notified local police.

“It’s a violation. It’s not even a misdemeanor,” Flynn told reporters. “Like I said, it’s not the crime of the century here. But I’ve got a 19-year-old victim.”

Flynn also said he expects the matter to be handled in another court appearance Monday and doesn’t anticipate Lee facing any jail time, although it is punishable by up to 15 days in jail.

Lee’s passport was also seized and he was ordered to stay away from a Westin Hotel in the city.

Buffalo is currently hosting the NHL scouting combine, which began last Monday and runs through Saturday.

According to the Senators’ official web site, Lee has been with the club the last 23 seasons, including the last four in his current position.
