After he clears.

Luongo + Volpatti …. for …. Strome + Nielsen + Martin + DiPietro

(DiPietro compliance buyout this summer = $24mil)

In other words, Lou + Volpatti + $24mil for Strome + Nielsen + Martin

Strome has future #1 centre written all over him.

PLAYOFFS:

Dank – Hank – Burr
Higgins – Kesler – Booth
Raymond – Nielsen – Hansen
Martin – Lappy – Kassian
Schoeder
Weise
Ebbett
Vandermeer
____
Try to focus on someday.

DiPietro clears, no surprise.

Malkin out with a concussion. Catch the video. Nasty whiplash into the boards.
The only HW the Canucks need

Yeah, lost an edge + a small shove by Gudbranson while going full speed, the whiplash hurt me just watching it

Not nice.

I also didn't like what Malkin did to W Mitchell a few years ago. Now he knows what it feels like to some degree.

Yeah I was going to say, not feeling too sorry for Malkin at this point.

The Philadelphia Flyers acquired forward Simon Gagne from the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday for a conditional fourth round pick in 2013.

Another bold move by Holmgren.
Every time I look out my window, same three dogs looking back at me.

That would stay on theme...

Funny how these latest trades are what could be called lateral moves. What puzzles me is why Bergevin traded a bigger body in Cole for another smallish older scorer in Ryder when their big bodies are going down like Bourque.

Not sure the reasoning behind Philly's move to get Gagné. Scoring goals isn't really a problem for Philly so m,uch as keeping them out. No doubt LA was happy as poop to offload the contract. Who knows what Holmgren's cooking up because this is likely far from his last move.

Montreal gets an expiring contract. Dallas gets a top "six" forward due only $4m each of the next to seasons after this one.

Gagne now only worth a 4th?

Time was he'd have been a headliner in almost any trade. Injuries sure take a toll.

In 05/06, Gagne scored 47g 32a in 72GP. In 06/07, he scored 41g, 21a in 76GP. In 08/09, he scored 34g 40a in 79GP. Those were his best years. In the last four seasons, he scored a combined of 41G 56A in 166GP (0.58 ppg).

Gagne's cap hit is only $2.157m and will be an UFA this summer. As "bad" as Gagne has been in the last four seasons, I would think he worths way more than a fourth rounder. You would think offensive-challenged teams like Nashville or Colorado could offer more for Gagne... :?:

Are the Canucks trying to bring up Vandermeer or Pinizzotto??
Ben Kuzma ‏@benkuzma

#Canucks have put fourth-line winger Aaron Volpatti on waivers. Could be another roster move coming.

According to Bob McKenzie, Pinizzotto got the call.
Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
Aaron Volpatti on waivers for 2 reasons. 1. Get him icetime. 2. Open roster spot for Steve Pinizzotto, coming off injured non-roster status.
