lol well I still wouldn't mind Gagner for center depth and give Eriksson a playmaker to ride shotty with on the 3rd line, also slap Goldy on that line, and it could be good watchin' Especially as the El Barto-Horvat line, plus the Sedins line would get a lot of attention.Uncle dans leg wrote:Gagner? One thing this team desperately lacks is some points from the backend. Not sure overpaying for Del Zotto is the way to go, but we'll have to wait and see what they give him.
Certainly won't make us any harder to play against.

If it's 2 years or less, not more than Sbisa's cap hit, bottom-pairing minutes... then it might be ok.Island Nucklehead wrote:One thing this team desperately lacks is some points from the backend. Not sure overpaying for Del Zotto is the way to go, but we'll have to wait and see what they give him.

He'd be no worse than Pizza or Bartman defensively and would walk the line better than Larsen.

Given his durability, it might be less than the $4M he was making previously, but given the UFA silly-season, I would guess the Canucks are the highest bidder for his services. Nearly a 30-point pace at 20mins/night.... 2 years 8.5M?Hank wrote:If it's 2 years or less, not more than Sbisa's cap hit, bottom-pairing minutes... then it might be ok.Island Nucklehead wrote:One thing this team desperately lacks is some points from the backend. Boston waives Hayes for the purpose of a buyout.
From SN:
The Boston Bruins waived Jimmy Hayes Friday with the purpose of buying out the remainder of his contract, and in doing so the franchise officially has nothing to show for the trade that sent Tyler Seguin to the Dallas Stars four years ago.

VAN will give Sam Gagner three years or Michael Del Zotto two years and sign G Anders Nilsson. - Bob Mackenzie
Canucks will look at alexander burmistrov - Freidman
Anton Rodin signs 1yr deal - Sportsnet
I thought numbers and term weren`t allowed to be discussed.

Misleading. McKenzie was in a discussion on Twitter on how teams could not talk salary, cap or term, just gage interest and see if parties were in the same ball park. So what he said was, so it's fine for people to say Gagne to Canucks for three years, Del Zotto and Nilsson two, but it's all speculation, maybe driven by agents, but nothing is confirmed, paper can't be drawn up or signed, until July 1st.givemeda411 wrote:VAN will give Sam Gagner three years or Michael Del Zotto two years and sign G Anders Nilsson. - Bob Mackenzie

Then people starting quoting him like these were done deals, but that's not what he was saying. Of course where there is smoke there is fire but McKenzie was not reporting this as done just citing them as examples, if that makes sense.

If it's a little more cap for less term, I supposed it would be ok.Island Nucklehead wrote:Given his durability, it might be less than the $4M he was making previously, but given the UFA silly-season, I would guess the Canucks are the highest bidder for his services. But if it means justifying top-4 minutes due to salary, then that would be a bad idea. Kind of like how Sbisa was (mis)used.

Personally, I don't think he's a good idea at all. I'd rather sign a guy that can inflict some punishment. But the Canucks D cannot score, and Del Zotto can provide that.Hank wrote:If it's a little more cap for less term, I supposed it would be ok.Island Nucklehead wrote: Given his durability, it might be less than the $4M he was making previously, but given the UFA silly-season, I would guess the Canucks are the highest bidder for his services. But he made $4M cash last season (3.875 cap hit I believe), and it's rare you see under-30 UFA's sign on day-1 for less than they made last year.
Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Gagner, Del Zotto and Nilsson would all be reasonable signings given the team's needs, assuming contract terms aren't out of hand. 2-3 year deals would be great.

Reading some rumours being spread by Brian Lawton(credible) that the Coilers are looking at a 3 way trade shipping Draisaitl to Avs and involving the sharks as well...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Okay, this one is pretty insane but the source is as credible as it gets. According to Brian Lawton, the Oilers would be in process of trading Leon Draisaitl to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange of Matt Duchene. The weird trade would include the Sharks too, but it's still unclear how.
This doesn't make a lot of sense to be honest, but Lawton is not the kind to throw stupid rumors around for the fun of it. The only way to make sense of this rumor would be through the salary cap logic. With McDavid set to explode the bank with his next contract, Draisaitl becomes the good player stuck under the cap.
With his 77 points in 82 games and 16 in 13 playoff games, Leon is just evolving into a pure beast. Losing him to Duchene would be a huge gamble, but maybe some other parts are involved.
Tomorrow is going to be crazy folks.
