If Wideman's excuse is he didn't know what he was doing because he was concussed, and Calgary was warned about it (which is the rumor), then that lawsuit is going to be really interesting.
Every time I look out my window, same three dogs looking back at me.

Kovalchuk Wants to return to the NHL. But there are snags. He is on the Voluntary Retirement List (VRL). NJD hold his NHL rights. So, if he comes back:
1) If he signs with NJD he then needs to clear waivers.
2) NJD can't trade his rights. They can do a sign and trade.
3) He can sign with another team but then all other 30 teams need to approve of the contract, this due to the VRL.
His easiest route back maybe to just sign with NJD but unless it's a crazy contract I can't see him clearing waivers. The NHL doesn't make it easy for players on VRL, who have been playing in another league, to come back and write their own ticket. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

He's already signed one crazy contract with them. They can just put that one back in place and he's good for another 10 years!
