Burrows has to score. It's that simple. If he's not producing points, he's not earning his money. At $2M, sure we can pay for a good forechecking PK specialist. At $4.5M Burrows needs to be on the scoresheet with some regularity. His lack of scoring is easily one of the major issues facing the Canucks right now. He brings more to the table than Booth, for sure, and that's why Booth is in the pressbox and Burrows is not. But they both need to share blame for the Canucks lack of secondary scoring.BladesofSteel wrote:Comparing Booth and Burrows is laughable. The effort is certainly there, the scoring chances, two-way play and commitment to being the system/team are not even in question. This team is the best in the league when down a man, and Burrows is one of the key cogs.
The team is clearly struggling right now. Secondary scoring (Burrows, Higgins, Hansen) has been much discussed. The lack of offense from the blueline has not gotten nearly enough blame for the teams failures.
It's easy to point fingers right now, but suggesting Burr is as (or more) useless than Booth is just ignant whining.

Can you blame a guy in a funk?
can you blame bad puck luck?
I like Burrows and believe he will come around
Booth...not so much

The current Alex Burrows is a not a top six forward. Last night, Duncan Keith treated him like a bitch. He absolutely destroyed Alex.
I think Alex's foot injury has hurt him a lot. Alex relies a lot on his speed to get to the pucks, to outmaneuver defensemen and to score and I just don't see Alex being all that speedy out there. He's getting caught by the defense and turning the puck over a lot.

About Booth, I have a friend who works with the Canucks, and he said Booth has barely been working out at all. He's just been constantly eating in the lounge. Usually when you're a healthy scratch you work hard because you want to play.. Booth, apparently not. Get rid of him MG.

Not saying you or your friend are full of shit but hasn't it been reported in the past that Booth was a workout freak and the coaches asked him to dial it down a bit?RyanGinger wrote:About Booth, I have a friend who works with the Canucks, and he said Booth has barely been working out at all. Of course things can change, but I've also heard that if pigs had wings they could fly.
Not saying I'm a big fan of Booth and I expect him to be bought out next year if he doesn't turn it around this year but I do not for one minute believe he is sitting around eating nachos rather than working out as hard as he can to get back into game shape.
If we could trade his sorry ass for a late round pick at this point I would be happy just for the cap space but that does not mean I would ever question his work ethic or profesionalism.
Now his stupid religious beliefs and questionable morals around killing for sport, not food, I do have a problem with but that has nothing to do with his value as a hockey player.
Rant off.
