Farhan's $0.05 - An open question for Royaldude.

Royaldude - what's up buddy. Hope all is well.

I don't mean to put you on the spot or anything, but I just wanted to know as to what YOU would do if you were the General Manager of the Vancouver Canucks?

The reason why I ask is because I know that you're a huge fan of the Canucks obviously, but nothing ever seems to make you happy (I don't know if that's part of your schtick or if you actually feel that way).

I know a few months ago, you expressed an interest in the Canucks doing something similar to what the Flyers did with Mike Richards (i.e. trading Kesler for some young players that have a serious chance at making an impact within the year), but I'm wondering as to WHO you would make that offer to.

What would you trade him to and who would you expect in return?

In other possible Royaldude moves, Chris Higgins would be shipped off to Abu Dabi, while David Booth would be exiled to Bible Camp. Mason Raymond would be a fixture on the 2nd line, while 2 of the following 3 (Pahlsson, Lapierre, Malhottra), would be gone. The Canucks would then opt to go with a skilled two way center on the 3rd line as opposed to having a total shut down guy.

Do I have this right? I guess what I'm trying to ask, is what would make Royaldude happy?

p.s._____________________________To other posters reading this thread: Please feel free to propose a step-by-step plan of what YOU would do if you were the General Manager of the Vancouver Canucks. In your world, does Luongo get traded to Toronto for Jake Gardiner? Or maybe Schneider gets traded to Columbus for Nash?

If you're the GM of this team, what moves do you make over the next 12 months or so?

Although I'm interested to hear the opinions of Royaldude, I'm also interested to hear the opinions of everyone else as well (as I indicated in the last sentence of my initial post).

That would be pretty f'cking sweet.

Even if Edmonton didn't go for the 2nd overall/Tanev deal, we could still select Ryan Murray.

Yakupov reminds me of Bure. If I understand correctly, he's also a #10. 8-)

I still like the idea of having Schneider as a trade bargaining chip. Luongo has his faults, but he's good enough to win if the team in front does its fair share.

Schultz and Garrison are no brainers given we give up nothing. Getting either would be great getting both would be a slam dunk.

I would then move one of our goalies for a quality young winger with a good shot at playing in our top6 or a young 3rd line center with size.

I would much prefer to bring in a young NHL ready player over a draft pick.

Shultz is really just a bonus Garrison + a quality young player that can contribute right away probably puts us right back at the top in the west.

That is especially true if the season starts a month or 2 late and Kesler comes back 100% healthy.

RD will never answer this question. All he is capable of doing is ripping apart other people's ideas and the moves that the team actually makes. He simply can't state an opinion of what should be done because he really doesn't have a clue.

I suspect that Gillis could ice the following line-up.....

Giroux - Crosby - Perry
Parise - Stamkos - Hossa
Lucic - Datsyuk - Gaborik
Ovechkin - Malkin - Ryan

Keith - Weber
Suter - Doughty
Chara - Karlsson

Lundqvist
Quick

.....and still have $10M is available cap space, and RD would find ways to complain and trash the moves that were made.

Because, you know.....RD could do it better.....

Forgot to add Ballard for Zach Smith or another similar 3rd line center of Smith's ilk.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Royal dude, AKA bikerdude, AKA a negatory nancy, AKA a derogatory dan, or Nancydan fur short,
Is never ever happy unless the canucks are losing, have lost, or about to lose.
No trade that Gillis makes, has made or ever will make, will ever be right
Every player that has left the canucks, for whatever reason, has been the one that got away and is bound for The Hall
And every player that has ever pulled on the blue and green or red black and yellow, is a second class moron who could not cut it in any "real professional organization" like the New York Islanders
During the fateful run up to the finals in Two Thousand and Eleven the (lowercase) dude, was AWOL after every Canuck win and blamed every loss on the Ballard trade tirelessly...

of course I do enjoy the results of the dudes tirades, especially the witty repartee from other posters who almost never fail to make me laugh

Not all of that diatribe is true uk.

Dude is a huge Canuck fan.

Just not a huge Gillis fan.

So he runs smack contrary to what he believes to be masses bowing to GMMG's every move in an effort to educate others as to his beliefs.

But to say he is not a fan of the team or hates everything about them past and present is just plain wrong.

Is that the 'EA' that picked the Canucks to bring home the grail in 2011?

Excellent set of questions, Lalji, this might have to be a 3,4,5 parter in response(s) to your multitude of inquiries. First off, I'd be pretty much repeating myself so I am not so sure why you demand this of me, it's not like you've heard this before. You have it spot on regarding Higgins, he has been a journeyman in his 10 years of pro hockey for a reason, I believe we are his 5th or 6th team. He's like the new Mike Sillinger, a former Canuck player I could not stand, mainly because of his Marlboro Man Porn Stache. I believe you could count on one hand the amount of teams that Sillinger did not get to play for. I can guarantee you, the Canucks will not be the last team he will play for. He is a disposable player and we most likely witnessed his complete no show in the playoffs as to being why he has played on so many teams in his short NHL career.

I hate this love fest for Malhotra, it's the Trevor Linden/Trent Klatt syndrome with fans here, "good guy, great speaker, good in the community, good with the fans, good with teamates, local hero - Steve Nash's brother in law, it's like that all somehow equates to his play on the ice. I DON'T CARE ABOUT WHAT ANYONE IS LIKE OFF THE ICE, I COULD CARE LESS HOW MANY TIMES MALHOTRA SITS ON THE CRAPPER IN A DAY....he sucks on the ice, plain and simple.

I can't stand Lappiere, I really hate players who play cheap after the whistles, the yapping, that whole shit. SHUT THE FUCK UP AND PLAY THE GAME. It does us no good to make other teams despise us, just motivates them more to beat us. Him Pahlsson, Malhotra are redundant to the 99th degree, is it no wonder why our offensive creativity dried up with those 4th line centreman playing at the same time.

Seriously, you all know how I feel about David 'one play' Booth. His only is taking the puck on the fly in full flight which is why he does the Pavel Bure cheat at the blue line all the time, and then drive to the net with the puck on one hand out wide, if doesn't manage to get around the D-man, then it's classic David Booth comedy, he swings arond the net and then becomes completely confused as what to do next. Which is why he is the turnover king. I get a laugh out of how many of you still think there is something in this guy, like after 10 years of pro hockey he is all of a sudden gonna become Bill Guerin. We went through and are still going through the same hopefulness with Ballard.

You all think I'm a mad Raymond fan, so not the case, I just get a laugh at how this 2.5 million dollar man with the bad back became everybody's scapegoat. I will say this, Raymond's salary should not make him an issue, Booths and Ballards salary do. One thing with Raymond when compared to Booth, at least Raymond has some fucking intellectual creativity and forethought when he has the puck unlike Booth and is a quality player in his own end. At his salary at recent devestating injruy, the guy is not the problem, you all just want him to be Zach Parise out there.

Come on Lalji, RIck Nash??? What's with the obsession of getting players from consistently shitty hockey teams. Hasn't Nash been there from the beginnning. He is not a winner/leader and that fucking salary? That is why I call him Rick 'Dany Heatly' Nash, the fire is no longer there for these players or at least meeting their massive paycheques. The Rangers are the perfect fit for Nash, home of the overbloated contracts on hasbeen/oncewas hockey players.

I will get to Gillis later, that my friend is a fucking novel.
