Unless you can pull a trigger six times a second, those guns are illegal in Canada and only legal under extremely strict control in the US. They have also not been used in any of the recent mass murders.

No matter what the Bushmaster 223 looks like, it still only fires one projectile each time the trigger is pulled.

Educate yourselves a little folks.

By a 30-30, I believe you are talking about a lever action rifle. How fast do you think you can cycle a round in that? Chamber it in a more popular handgun round, say .44 mag and a 9 round magazine. I think my niece uses my old 30-30 for deer hunting.

Showing my age here. Last time I went hunting was with a 30_30 lever action. So.....can a 30 30 stop an intruder in your house?

May have killed more wagon burners than any other gun in the west. No wonder you like it.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

What Fred is talking about is this. There's a lot of people talk about threats, tyrants, what ever but no one so far can tell me that they've actually experienced any such threats ...... it's like a kids bogey man. Think if some one comes to your door and threatens you...but no one has !!! In the mean time 20 kids are dead because some one's imagination got carried away with the threat and loaded up with guns to ward of the Evil Empire or the imagined threats. When are people in the USA going to follow the rest of the world and say ...hey guess what there is no bogeyman we don't need a house full of guns. Guns are a huge industry that play on peoples fears and insecurities, they back it up with a huge and expensive lobbyists. Save your money put it in a pension plan ... because a pension is some thing you're deffinatley going to need  and who knows maybe save a childs life

I dunno Per this list of death rate per country:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_so ... death_rate
... tells me the death rate of Americans is LESS than that of Swedes!
So what does it all mean??
Are Swedes falling down open manhole shafts?
Are Swedes killing off other Swedes with hard-to-detect poisons (murders deemed "natural causes")?
Are incompetent Swedish cops finding bodies beaten to death with rocks and ruling these deaths "suicide"?
Are a high percentage of Swedes being struck dead by God?
I dunno, fuckin stats eh Per? :drink:
Personally I'd rather be shot to death than beaten to death with a rock but that's for another thread....

Just to add a little perspective.
http://www2.macleans.ca/tag/homicide/
Murders per 100,000 population:

1. Honduras 82.1
2. El Salvador 66
3. Ivory Coast 56.9
4. Jamaica 52.1
5. Venezuela 49
6. Belize 41.7
7. Guatemala 41.4
8. St. Kitts and Nevis 38.2
9. Zambia 38
10. Uganda 36.3
.
.
103. United States of America 5
150. Canada 1.8

No wonder Topper has seen so much violence in his day!

Hilarious!

Thanks!

Per wrote:Yes, Sweden has a much older population than the US, which proves exactly what?

It proves that Swedes are a bunch of pussies!

Per wrote:So, tell me again, what are you trying to prove? :drink:

Sorry (no, REALLY!) for that last comment, now here's what I was up to:

1). A little jab cuz YOU, when presented with stats you didn't like, replied: "Lies, damn lies, and statistics."

TWICE! :D

Oh yes, the Great Strangelove remembers!

2). Statistics truly CAN be deceptive.

3). The number of murders per capita in America is not that bad when put in global perspective.

4). Murders make up only a minuscule fraction of the of the deaths in Sweden and America.

Only 1 out of 250 deaths in America... WATCH OUT FOR THAT MANHOLE!!!... involves a gun.

2.5million people die each year in America (only 10k by gunfire).

Your average Yank is twice as likely to die from Parkinson’s Disease as a gunshot.

http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr60/nvsr60_03.pdf (page 5).

Yeah, so death by gun isn't anywhere NEAR as big a deal in America as your stats indicate.

And/or maybe murder is slightly more accepted in America than other civilized nations.

If so, who are you to attack the culture of another nation?

(after ALL they have done to make the world a safer place for silly little Swedes such as yourself)

Hmmm?? :hmmm:

Perhaps a slightly more violent nature is part-and-parcel of being called upon to be the "World Police".

That's alotta stress there Bucko!

Perhaps if you took their guns away they'd use knives instead.

And if you took away the knives: SPOONS! :D

Also, shouldn't we subtract the # of lives SAVED by gun-use (murders prevented) from the number of deaths by gun?

Yes, THAT would be a more FAIR way to assess the impact of guns on a society... wouldn't it?

WOULDN'T IT??!!!

But YOUR stats don't take THAT into account do they Per.

DO THEY??!!!

OH NOooooo.

Therefore your drop-in-the-bucket stats lie.

Good day and Merry Christmas....

So, just going by colours, Canada and Western Europe are in the lowest category, whereas the USA falls in the same category as Peru, Libya, Syria, Iran, Afghanistan and India? Interesting. Now there is food for pause.... :|

Deaths in wars don't count as "homicide".

And why THE FUCK do you have India and Peru in there??

And that's a fantastic solution to the problem. With 90 guns per 100 people, Doc? Arming nearly every American, in which statistics clearly show that nearly every american is armed, doesn't seem to be doing FUCK ALL in lowering the fucking ridiculous average of 10,000 Americans killed by guns every year, does it?

Why not just accept Doc that maybe some folks are just damn well fucking sick of the carnage, year in year out. But hey, keep spreading the paranoia. The Gun Manufacturers love you for it. It's a vicious cycle that a lot of folks want an end to. But the archaic America that was founded on the Right To Bear Arms 400 years ago, Republican jack asses such as yer self seem to think works in the modern world. Arm yourselves in case you have to go to war with your government, LMAO! Paranoia galore. Good luck in this so called war with the government against their fighter jets and nuclear missles and such. Fucking comical. In the meantime, keep arming the Mrs Lanza subsititue teachers of the world with 4 ridiculous human killing guns whom happen to be living in the same house with children whom are not quite right in the head. A recipe for something to go wrong, like um, Sandy Hook. Other wise, Adam Lanza is hanging himself in Momma's basement and no one else gets hurt.

RD, you actually ARE a woman, aren't you.

That's okay, I ain't got nuthin against women!

Tonight when you're crying yourself to sleep, console yourself with this thought:

How many thousands of lives are SAVED each year because of good old-fashioned gun-totin folks.

Good night and Merry Christmas ma'am.....

Nope I see it for what it is, a con. If folks didn't let their imagination loose the place would be a whole lot better. Don't fall prey to your own imaginations ......BUCKO.... you don't need to appear scary, no pit bull, no keys on a chain or a tattoo of barbed wire tattooed around your bicep

Just think if his mother had not been a gun collector maybe he would have kicked the cat or or or maybe he would have sworn at some one. Get your head out of your ass.

Just think at the Theatre shooting in Colorado, dark dark theatre if there had been security staff with more guns ( as per the NRA suggestions, the dead could have been 10 times larger. And that guy had 4 guns which he bought legally. He was carrying – An AR-15 assault rifle, – A Remington 12-gauge 870 shotgun – Two 40-caliber Glock handguns. lots of testosterone on display there ....and a lot of dead people

I think the likes of Doc and Topper need to load up on a hefty amount of Ecstacy, Kush and Viagra and head out on a Blobby MacKenzie bender. Burn that fucking bible. He, like all Republicans are so pent up their balls are tucked way up inside their lower entestines. Time to stretch it out, Doc and stop worrying about the Killer Bees invading your white picket fence home and pillaging your woman and children. Put on some Bob Marley and stretch them scrawny legs.
