I'm in...won't do the hunting but I'll eat whatever they shoot.

We'll bring Topper along for the cookin'.

We can use Farhan as bait.

Mondi wrote: Regardless of what one thinks of hunting, I don't like Booth's attitude about it.

Throwing around the term "rights". If hunting in that jurisdiction requires a license, then hunting is in fact a privilege. There is no law on the books that says, "Everyone has the right to go into the woods, bait a wild animal and slaughter it from a safe position." It likely says something like, "No person shall hunt black bears unless they have a valid licence." A privilege implies much less than a right. A privilege is granted by the state, a right is something that can never be taken away.
What Booth said is "I have the right to choose to hunt".

See, after having acquired a hunting license, he then CHOSE to hunt.

So yeah, nothing wrong with his attitude Mr Hairsplitter. :hmmm:
Mondi wrote: Now, if one has a licence then sure go out in the bush and exercise that privilege of slaughtering helpless animals, go right ahead.
Well that's exactly what he did!

BTW who slaughtered the chicken you ate yesterday and how “helpless” was said chicken?

Should said chicken have been given a fighting chance?

I’m thinking said bear lived a better life than said chicken.
Mondi wrote: As for the analogy of people eating meat and wearing leather? It breaks down immediately unless Booth caught this animal for subsistence purposes.
Ummmm pretty sure the bear wasn't left to rot in the woods Mondi. :scowl:
Mondi wrote: One thing is for sure however, at 4+ million per season, Booth did not NEED to kill this bear.
So only poor folk should have the privilege of killing bears?

Poor folk can't afford hunting licenses I hope you know. :D
Mondi wrote: This kid is a blockhead and his actions on the ice and off the ice do nothing to dispel the notion. You're in the public eye David, keep your private life private and you'd have no problems.

I'm confused as to how the meat and leather argument breaks down not just for the reason that the bear was likely butchered and used ('cause that is what happens), but because I'm pretty sure you don't really need that cow leather jacket to survive in the industrialized world or even eat the meat of said cow.

Bears are considered top be cute. Salmon are not cute. Oh, and bears are not cute either if they tear your tent open and eat you. PETA likes bears too (People Eaten by Tasty Animals)

Yeah the big motherfucking black bears that inhabit my neighbourhood every summer don't take to well to petting for some reason.

I told one to FUCK OFF last year as it tried to get into my shed where the garbage is.

Fukin thing just looked at me, left some skat in my yard and went to the next one.

Neighbours down the street were none to pleased when one pushed in their screen, ripped open their sliding door, which was slightly ajar and ate a couple of pies which were cooling on the kitchen table.

Fukin bears.

Mondi wrote: No, I'm a guy who thinks trophy hunting is a ridiculous hobby. Hunting for subsistence is a respectable activity.

However, unlike Booth's right to choose to hunt (which exists only pursuant to a grant of permission from some bureaucrat), I have the explicit constitutional right to have an opinion on hunting for sport.

But as I stated above, if Booth had the licence and he ate the bear he's done nothing wrong in my books. Still doesn't make him very bright (or very sporting for that matter).
.... and I have the explicit constitutional right to hold the opinion your books are cooked.

You say folks who kill bears aren't "very bright".

I say folks who say..... folks who kill bears aren't very bright.... aren't very bright. :drink:

BTW, I gave up hunting after shooting and killing my guide Abu.

They ruled it was an accident.
