Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.
I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Well MG has recognized the type of player we need when he pursued Doan. Like hens back teeth there are not very many of that style around and it will have a baring on what we want back for Luongo.Topper wrote:I hope Gillis didn't waste any time on him.RoyalDude wrote:Bummer. Well, by going by what HW was saying, 'the Canucks are very interested', it seems as though that the Canucks Brass were about to embark on ANOTHER path of wasted time and effort. Gillis just don't have his finger on the pulse. Just like what Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo says 'Bad Timing that's all'Topper wrote: I hope Gillis didn't waste any time on him.
“Tyler Myers is my guy... I was taking to Scotty Bowman last night and he was bringing up his name, and saying he’s a big guy and big guy need big minutes to play, he is playing great for ya… and I agree with him… He’s been exceptional” - Bruce Boudreau

MG was in on trade talks but it appears obvious that Winnipeg wanted to keep Kane and the asking price was too much. I doubt he wasted a lot of time on it but I know he was talking.
The Kane deal is like the Weber deal. Two players who would rather play elsewhere for different reasons but signed home run deals to get in under the old CBA.
I had heard Kane was not going to sign and was going to take his chances with a new CBA in order to try to maximize his chances of leaving Winnipeg. I guess he was also playing poker trying to force a trade. I guess his agent got the better of him because I think most of us can see that players like Edler that didn't re-sign may be in for a shock in the new CBA.
The only HW the Canucks need
Re: Offseason Wheelings and Dealings
I see from the Wolves roster the Canucks have signed Riley Emmerson. Fromm Abbotsford 6'8" / 230

Re: Offseason Wheelings and Dealings
Emmerson was signed by the Wolves, not Canucks (fortunately). Bitz seems to be jobless at the moment, but my research (TSN, Eliteprospects, Wikipedia) might be not thorough enough.Fred wrote:I see from the Wolves roster the Canucks have signed Riley Emmerson. Fromm Abbotsford 6'8" / 230

Re: Offseason Wheelings and Dealings
Yeahit looks like Emmerson has spent most of his time in the ECHL so for the Wolves to sign him maybe it'sconsidred a promotion
cheers
Re: Offseason Wheelings and Dealings
The Columbus Blue Jackets have called a news conference to introduce former announcer and St. Louis Blues executive John Davidson as the club's president of hockey operations.
He will take the place of Mike Priest, who will concentrate only on the business side of the franchise.
The Blue Jackets had the worst record in the NHL last season with a mark of 29-46-7 for 65 points.
Davidson, a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame as a broadcaster, served as president of the Blues from 2006 until earlier this year. He helped transform the team into one of the best in the league last season.
A former goaltender for the Blues and New York Rangers, he retired in 1983.
