Mixed feelings on this one. AV is obviously a good coach, but I think sometimes he gives this team *too* much leeway when it comes to handing over the leadership reigns. I also don't like the way he handles the younger guys, he needs to give them a chance to make some mistakes, and make them during the regular season so come playoff time they are ready. We've all seen regular season means sh** all this time of year.

I throw my hands up in the air, I don't get it... :eh:

After six years a new voice was/is needed.

Look at everything after that Boston game in January... The fall off nearly across the board. Now tell me this team was prepared to face LA.

Hey it’s not my team so I have no say. But I’m telling you, I’m a cunt hair away from losing faith in GMMG! I was happy Aqua-man extended Gillis.... "was happy". Now I'm doubting the dude big time.

You watch, he'll give Luongo and get fleeced... Fuckin saggy eyes!

I'm kinda meh about this as well.

Thought maybe we would see someone new and was looking forward to that I guess, however then I couldn't figure out who was out there that may be able to take the reigns.

We'll just have to settle for some off-season roster moves and if things don't go well AV's leash may be a short one!

Ya like Steve Bernier and Michael Grabner and a 1st to Flordia for Keith Ballard with the added bonus of 4.2million over four more years roflmao!

Bye bye Ehrhoff... the only good move Gillis has made to date.

Or wait for it... Samuelsson and Strum to Florida for David Booth and the awesome added bonus of 4.25million for three more seasons.

Lets offer Matts Sundin a two year 20 million dollar contract!

Hodgson for Kassian (isn't Kassian basically Bernier part two?) Good, so it won't be a surprise when Kassian gets moved three years from now to Florida for a shit player they desperatly want off their books.

Yep, off season roster moves... I'm waiting with baited breath' ... Image

TOTALLY AGREE!
The Pens eventually lost in the 2008 Stanley Cup Finals to the Detroit Red Wings in six games, finishing the playoffs with a 14-6 record. On July 18, 2008, Therrien signed a contract extension with the Penguins through the 2010–11 NHL season.[6]

The next season, The Penguins shot out to one of the best starts in franchise history, only to slow down considerably heading into December.[citation needed] The slide continued, and on February 15, 2009, a day after the 6-2 loss to the Maple Leaves and with the Penguins struggling to stay in the playoff race, Therrien was relieved of his duties as head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins.[7] Therrien finished four games behind Eddie Johnston for the longest tenure as Penguins' head coach. Dan Bylsma took over as head coach.[8] He continued to reside in Pittsburgh and followed the team as they advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals and won the Stanley cup in game 7 in Detroit.

AV is a good coach. If the players say they have not tuned him out and that they want him back you bring him back. And this is what happened. But fans and players shouldn't be so naive as to think Gillis won't remove AV if he doesn't see immediate improvements to the game. I'm not sure a slow start will be tolerated nearly as much this upcoming season.

It may also be a decision based on the CBA. If for whatever reason the season is delayed (and Donny revokes his fan card), it may be advantageous to have a coach and system the players are familiar with given a shortened season and camp.

So you agree, or you would assume Gillis agrees, immediate improvements are required.

Then why Fuckin bring him back? :wow:

Because the players want him back and believe he is the coach that can get them to where they need to go. Some boats aren't worth rocking at a time of CBA uncertainty.
