In the past the PA did not endorse long suspensions as it takes away a players ability to earn. So there is an inherent conflict of interest in this regard and asking the PA to take sides has not worked.
There is also an inherent conflict with the owners who do not want their players the ones being suspended.
For the system to work they need an outsider handing out the discipline. But it would never work so we are stuck with what we have.
I do wonder why all the fuss about an in person meeting etc when the suspension was capped at 5 games. A pretence of taking it seriously?
I suppose the bottom line was that the League felt it could not prove it was premeditated and intentional. Anyone who knows hockey knows it was but the league just backed off. But he did get 5 games and that is something. Maybe not enough to satisfy Canuck fans but I doubt any number of games would have truly satisfied us.

Let's hope he can make it back for playoffs..otherwise............

$ 250,000 bounty for another teams top goal scorer. I wonder if theres anyway the Shithawkes can be trusted not to pay Kieth`s salary during the 5 games. I doubt it.

I think they could have given Keith 7 or 8 but dude had no priors. I think the NHL should clamp down on garbage hits to the head but they are all over the fucking map with their suspensions , ie the rome and Wisnieuwski cases and this one. The inconsistency is the most frustrating part.

SonofaBure wrote:When Crosby got a concussion nobody thought he'll take this long to come back. Everybody thought Towes would only be out a game or two with his concussion, but it's going on two weeks now.
You can't really set a time table for a concussion, which is scary.
What I'm trying to say is it's impossible to speculate now how long DS will be out.

mr perfect wrote:Blob's right, if the concussion was severe, they wouldn't have let Daniel fly home.
Sit out Daniel Sedin for the rest of the season. The Canucks are good enough to win the first round of the playoffs without him, I just hope he's ready for round 2.
