The difference is that Malhotra is nowhere near the level he was at last year. He is not a 3rd line guy right now and I don't see that changing between now and the deadline. I don't think you can rely on him. LaPierre has his moments but he is also not a full time third line center on a championship caliber team. The entire mix of those 5 are elite level.
