duh, yes he does. The deposits made by STHs' are refundable up to July 11th. So there is still a "consumer confidence" issue that the President has to instill on the fanbase and keeping them abreast of the situation would be something they should do, unlike what was followed by the "BC Angels model." 8-)

duh no he doesn't .

Blob, you're wrong ... so wrong, you couldn't be more wrong ....... if you were Mr. Wrong, the current owner of the Clippers. 8-)

duh, yeah part of his role on the team is to instill "consumer confidence." There's millions at stake if the STH fanbase get restless and he has to justify his hires before the deadline. Part of the reason he was hired was to instill believe in their "best" customers i.e. the paying customers ... as his counterpart, Kevin Lowe in Edmonton not so eloquently stated last season:

We have two types of fans: we have paying customers and we have people that watch the game that we still care about but certainly the people that go to the games and support we spend a lot of time talking to them, delivering our message.

What say you? 8-)

No duty. Might behove him to announce plans, but nothing more.

The playoffs are barely 10 days old, and the there are still 11 teams active in the 2013-2014 season.

I would sacrifice 1000 STHs (who will immediately be replaced by those on the WL), if it means we get the best GM/coach combo. The whims of the fans and media are not the first priority.

With winning, comes fans. The plan should be to win.

And for those people who can't stomach one bad season...maybe they aren't the fans they want as STHs?

It is an entertainment business. If Trev is not putting fans at ease, getting butts in seats either at the Rog or in front of endless scrolling advertisements, he is not doing his job.

Retention of STHs is critical no matter the waiting list.

All anyone needed to do was look at the timing of GMMG's downfall and Trevor ascendance along with the timing of the STH renewal and subsequent refund offer.

Topper, I completely agree (particularly re: GMMG). But I think Linden has some goodwill in the bank and as long as he's working toward a goal which will become clear, I'm not concerned.

I think the lack of any response to the end of his historic three decade run says it all about DR's relevance or rather irrelevance in today's marketplace. :hmmm:

There is also no way to instill confidence in the STH regarding his new hires until they have seen what happens at the draft and at the beginning of July. That's the point of the deadline. If Linden is going to hire a former assistant GM from another team, then announcements about a new GM mean shit at this point because the new GM can't do anything until the playoffs are over 6 weeks from now, and nobody has ever seen what said former assistant GM has done when actually at the helm. The only thing that will reassure STH's is actual results from the new head office.....that means draft picks and UFA signings. Hence the July 11th deadline.....which is still over 2 months away.

I myself am actually looking forward to two weeks from now when I get to go and select my seats for the first time.....regardless of who Linden hires, I have confidence in Trevor to do right by this franchise simply because this is where he wants to be. I get the distinct impression that had any other NHL team offered him a position in the front office, he would have turned it down. He wants to win here because his heart has always been with the Canucks.

Bingo.

Watching the fans at Canucks games is like being view to a great travesty. Half of them seem to be more engaged in their phones and conversations than the game on the ice.

Like mondi said, maybe a nervous thousand leave - big deal - perhaps are the ones who replace them will be more into it. The media and STH can get this through their heads - they are free advertising and customers, respectively, not shareholders.

A ten minute segment on that US Airways tweet was enough to confirm that the show is garbage. I tune in once in a blue moon and they are on about a pornographic tweet.

Lame.

The morning show is shit for sure but I don't think its any worse than the slop B Mac and Taylor serve up daily. Those two assheads are painful to listen to. I tune into the 1040 for about a total of an hour or so a week. To me the best of a sorry lot are Rintoul and Moj. If it was up to me I'd like to see no more than three or four local shows on during a day. There is no need to employ all these retards. Between Pratt, Moj, Rintoul, Lalji, Powell, Ball ,Sekeres and Mayenecht there should be enough "talent" to run a few local shows. I would like to see Price, Taylor, Macdonald, Edwards and Patterson all fired. They all suck shit IMHO .

The real worry Ihave is that 1410 will go tits up and the likes of Rome, Patrick and JT the Brick won't be on the local airwaves. Would be nice if one of these stations would pick up a show like Lebitards or Boomers instead of all the local crap. Jay Mohr was on 1410 for a while and that was decent radio- a lot better than the local hacks for sure. TDM's wine show is ok as well.
Tell me how my ass tastes.

That's BS pedalled by self righteous media. Fans can return their tickets as well, as consumers, that's their choice. The next person on the "paid" waiting list will snap them up. This idea that Linden (via blood oath) has to please the media & the fans now, reveal his "game plan" is laughable. Hockey is entertainment, and that occurs on the ice 6 months from now. That's the product. What happens off it & in the meantime is not the "right" of media & fans to be kept abreast of. It's a want, an interest, and a promotional trailer. Hype. If only politicians were held so accountable...

Linden will inform the scribes & plebs when the time is right.

Exactly, Topper. It is vital for them to retain as many STHs and maintain those people on the waiting list as a safety net. They want the demand for their product to remain as high as possible.

Team Radio's move to have Rintoul in the evening slot effectively shut down DR's attempt to revitalize his show. He has some of the top guests on his show i.e. Bruce Arthur.

IMO, I'd like to see Bruce Arthur host some sort of National Show across the TSN/TEAM Radio Network.

The guys ponying up for seats are real, waiting lists are the fickle who will disappear.. It would be interesting to chart the folks dropping out of line.

Perhaps in the past, but people aren't going to pay $150 per seat + $50 annually if they aren't serious.

But whatever, it's not like they're going to loose their base because TL doesn't report his game plan to them & the media. Trevor is clearly waiting for the right candidate to be available. Saying any more could be considered tampering if said candidate is still employed and busy w/ playoffs. Keeping his mouth shut is the professional thing to do. The media and self-important fans can get stuffed, it's none of their business until he decides it is (press conference).

Yep. Do it right. The fans will come back and support the team when it wins. It won't win if you fuck up the major decisions.

People will piss and moan for a week or a month while they watch better teams perform in the playoffs. Come draft day, they'll bitch about who we drafted/didn't draft. On July 1st, they'll scream about not dumping a brinks truck on every UFA available. Finally, camp will roll around and they'll scrutinize every prospect scrimmage to determine which of our recent draft picks is a sure-fire bust. Only then will we get to the regular season, and all the hyperbolic diarrhoea that erupts from the mouth-breathers after every loss or poor showing.

The curse of a "hockey city": For every knowledgable or reasonable fan, there's 9 fucktards thinking they could do a better job because they have the latest EA Sports instalment.
