Yeah, Gretz did get > 1000 with the Coil, a grand total of 1,669 (regular season). Almost did it a second time with the Kings, but stopped at 918.

However, I believe the OP was asking about a player, who only every played with one team, and also scored more than 1000 points. So, when put that way, Gretz can only make it with an asterisk... given he played on four teams. But, hey, who's counting anyway... 8-)

The numbers...

GP G A Pts
Edmonton Oilers (9 years) 696 583 1086 1669
LA Kings (8 years) 539 246 672 918
St. Louis Blues ( << 1 year) 18 8 13 21
New York Rangers (3 years) 234 57 192 249
Totals, NHL 1487 894 1963 2857

Just 16 players in NHL history have reached all +1,000 points with one team.
Gilbert Perreault - BUF
Jarome Iginla - CAL
Stan Mikita - CHI
Joe Sakic - COL
Steve Yzerman - DET
Alex Delvecchio - DET
Nicklas Lidstrom - DET
Dave Taylor - LA
Jean Beliveau - MTL
Henri Richard - MTL
Mike Bossy - NYI
Denis Potvin - NYI
Rod Gilbert - NYR
Daniel Alfredsson - OTT
Mario Lemieux - PIT
Bobby Clarke - PHI

Seems lke the correct answer is twelve.

This "stat" is a bit of a misnomer. This may be a list of players who scored 1000 pts playing their entire career with only 1 team, but it isn't correct in identifying players who scored 1000 pts for one team but who may have also played elsewhere.

John Bucyk, Espo, Gordie etc

It's not a misnomer or anything of the sort. It's what the OP said it was. People can make any list they want, right.

Scoring 1,000+ points in their career is an impressive thing.
Doing it for a single team is rare and thus more special than if it happened spread over a bunch of teams.
Getting your 1,000+ points -and- having only ever played for 1 team is the rarest of the rare.

It doesn't make the achievements (which are different achievements) of those other players any less important.

Yeah I just meant scoring 1000 points for one team, regardless of whether you played for other teams.

So Gordie Howe for example isn't off the list just because he played for the Whalers one season.. he still put up 1000 points in a Red Wings jersey (and is on their list of top all time scorers).

Dale Hawerchuck on the other hand would not qualify as he scored 929 points for Winnipeg, 385 for Buffalo, and so on.

(As an aside, the case of Ron Francis in this light is interesting - he scored 821 points for the Hartford Whalers and 354 for the Carolina Hurricanes. Should he qualify?)

The point simply being, when it comes to being a team's all time leading scorer, getting into that 800-1000 points territory is pretty rare. Both because often players split their career between two or more teams, but also just because putting up that many points over a career - especially when it did not overlap with the 1980s - is an impressive feat. Having the Sedins in the high 600s and counting is nothing to sneeze at.

Henrik has now passed Smyl and stands at 675 career points. One down, two to go.
If he keeps this up and scores at the same level as the last two seasons, he'll be roughly ten points ahead of Näslund at the end of the season. :look:

The countdown is on - Roberto Luongo is closing in on becoming the winningest Canucks goalie ever...

1. Kirk McLean GP 516 W 211 L 228 T 62 OTL 18
2. Roberto Luongo GP 352 W 206 L 107 T 0 OTL 35
3. Richard Brodeur GP 377 W 126 L 173 T 62 OTL 0
4. Dan Cloutier GP 208 W 109 L 68 T 23 OTL 6
5. Gary Smith GP 189 W 72 L 81 T 23

As for the post-season? 2 wins away...

3. Richard Brodeur GP 29 W 12 SO 1
4. Dan Cloutier GP 25 W 10 SO 0

Also, he's still the franchise record holder for the Florida Panthers for wins and shutouts:

2. John Vanbiesbrouck GP 268 W 106 SO 13
3. Tomas Vokoun GP 248 W 101 SO 23

When you see Roberto's stats compared to the previous Nuck goalies like that, you truly realise what a blessing he is for this franchise! :look:

Is anybody else amazed that Morrison is still in the Top 5 for GWGs? I believe he still is #1 in over-time goals too. Very impressive, considering his relatively short stay and how many more skilled guys you would expect to be above him.

He really had heart, if he had the size and played his entire career in Vancouver he would have been very similar to Linden.

On a sentimental level, I was really pulling for him to make this club last year out of camp. While he still has a lot to offer in a depth role, his style, size and skill set would have been redundant in this lineup. I hope he can stay healthy as I'm sure he has a few more productive years left in him. Quality player and an even better person.

Exception./.. Tiger Williams all time single season penalty minutes combined with most goals :) Could add a special category for " Most aggravating Player in the NHL"??

The Canucks have a new ironman! :)

The previous record, set by BMo, was for 534 consecutive games. But last night Henrik Sedin played his 535th consecutive game for the Vancouver Canucks! Yet another record transferred to the Wonder Twins! 8-)
