lol you had to copy and paste "Skellefteå" didn't you? I'd laugh at your attempt to pronounce it too, but I have no flippin idea either

In a surprise move the Helsinki based team Jokerit (six time Finnish champions, won the regular season in 2012/13 but were an early playoff elimination) have announced that they will be playing in the KHL starting in 2014/15.

A great feather in the Russian cap as they attempt to turn their league into a pan-European one. They already have teams from Latvia, Kazakstan, the Ukraine and Belarus, but now they're moving beyond the old Soviet borders.

Enström apparently got mugged and beaten up the other night in Övik. :|

And in other news, having lost Joacim Ericsson to the Canucks, Skellefteå has instead signed Henrik Karlsson, previously with Calgary but the past year belonging to Chicago.

Ya know, the result is bad, but the hit itself is not all that different than ones Scott Stevens used to throw.

The puck carrier runs a criss-cross pattern with his linemate, goes for the drop pass, and is looking over his shoulder watching how pretty it was. The guy lining him up was lining him up while he had the puck. Elbow was tucked and only came out on contact, he doesn't jump or leave his feet, it's pretty much shoulder (upper arm due to height difference) to shoulder and head. Viscous but really we've seen WAY worse.

Ulf Samuelsson, Tomas Sandström, Murray, Kronwall... :drink:

There are a few, but it's not the general style of play here.
We develop more skill players.

And then of course Forsberg, who was a skill player with a mean streak. :look:

Modo has several young players this season and after a few of them got hit in the head, Modo GM Peter Forsberg got pissed off. Today they announced that they have signed ... Wait for it ... Donald Brashear!
