Probably best to get someone fresh anyway

As far as the name goes,it looks as if Jets is by and far the most popular, I like the Winnipeg Thrashers too
I read somewhere the guy that runs the Moose now (Name starts with an H, can't remember it though) will be head of hockey operations.

I highly doubt they keep the Jets name. It'll be a Manitoba team. Manitoba Jets doesn't ring to me. Plus why not make more money in rebranding? New logos means new jerseys to be bought. Plus I bet the old Jets stuff still gets sold a ton.
GO CANUCKS GO !!!

PARTY TIME IN VANCOUVER....AND WINNIPEG!

Post by DavidPratt_ »

THERE ARE TWO BIG PARTIES GOING ON IN CANADA RIGHT NOW…

THE ONE IN VANCOUVER SURROUNDING THE STANLEY CUP FINAL…AND…

THE ONE IN WINNIPEG…CELEBRATING THE RETURN OF THE NHL TO THAT CITY…

BOTH SPEAK LOUDLY TO THE PASSION CANADIANS HAVE FOR THIS GAME…

BUT THE MONEY AND POLITICS OF THE TWO…COULD NOT BE MORE DIFFERENT…

HERE IN VANCOUVER THE CANUCKS ARE A CASH MACHINE…

THESE PLAYOFFS ALONE COULD GENERATE AS MUCH AS $45 MILLION DOLLARS FOR THE FRANCHISE…

GAME 1 TOMORROW WILL MARK THE 360TH STRAIGHT SELLOUT…

A STREAK THAT GOES BACK TO NOVEMEBER 14TH 2002…

SCALPERS EXPECT TO GET AS MUCH AS $4 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR A SINGLE TICKET…

NEXT SEASON IN WINNIPEG…TICKETS WILL START AT $39 DOLLARS…

WITH A POPULATION BASE OF UNDER…800 THOUSAND…

WINNIPEG IS NOW THE SMALLEST MARKET IN THE NHL…

UNTIL TODAY…IT WAS THE HOME OF THE CANUCKS FARM TEAM…”THE MANITOBA MOOSE”…

THIS RETURN IS ALSO A SLAP IN THE FACE TO NHL COMMISSIONER GARY BETTMAN…

WHO HAD NO PROBLEM MOVING THIS FRANCHISE TO PHOENIX IN 1996…

AT THE TIME…THE WINNIPEG JETS WERE LOSING MONEY…THE CANADIAN DOLLAR WAS WEAK…AND THERE WERE NO LOCAL BUYERS…SOUND FAMILIAR???

IT’S THE EXACT SAME STORY IN PHOENIX…AND YET…

LOOK AT HOW FAR BETTMAN HAS BEEN WILLING TO GO…AND HOW MANY MILLIONS OF DOLLARS HE’S BEEN WILLING TO SPEND…TO KEEP THAT FRANCHISE…IN THAT MARKET…

AND IT WOULD HAVE THE SAME STORY IN ATLANTA…

ONLY THE LOCAL POLITICIANS IN THAT CITY…WERE NOT FOOLISH ENOUGH TO SPEND $50 MILLION DOLLARS OF TAXPAYERS MONEY…JUST TO BUY A COUPLE OF…EXTRA SEASONS…

THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING…

OVER THE NEXT FEW YEARS…EXPECT MORE…FAILING U.S. TEAMS TO HEAD NORTH…

THE NEW OWNERS IN WINNIPEG WERE FORCED TO PAY A $60 MILLION DOLLAR RELOCATION FEE TO THE LEAGUE…

IMAGINE WHAT THE PRICE IS GOING TO BE…WHEN THEY MOVE FLORIDA…TO SOUTHERN ONTARIO???

IN THE MEANTIME…THIS WEEK CANADIAN HOCKEY FANS HAVE GOOD REASON TO CELEBRATE…

AND GOOD REASON TO BELIEVE…THAT THE BEST…IS YET TO COME!!!

It would be insane to go w/ anything other than the Winnipeg Jets. They have history there, there is nostalgia...they can bring back alumni like Hawerchuck, Babych, Selanne, Tkachuk, Essensa, Lukowich & Bobby Hull. New jerseys plus a retro 3rd jersey. Huge bucks. Anything else is starting over and the Moose is a minor league team. Who cares what effort was put into the Moose brand, the Jets brand already has league wide recognition. Go Jets!!!

The $60million relocation fee is BS and a cash grab. Nothing like financially handicapping a brand new franchise situation. Reaks of what David Stern did to the Grizzlies on some level.
