come on, Mats, you know what kind of house you can buy in Van-city for that money? this is a great town, and you'll have lots of fun...skiing and stuff. plus, most of the team speaks Swedish, or English with a Swedish accent, so you'll feel right at home.

how do you convince a guy like that?

yeah Im kinda with you on this. half your space for one player is not wise as we are not close to winning even with Sundin. unless we get 3 decent players for under $10M total.

A lot, really.... but I'd take it! Sundin on the Canucks would be sweet! Naslund would stay for cheap if this works out.

BTW... can't see Naslund going to Pittsburgh if he says he prioritizes the social life and the family. He should stay in Canada then.

if it's only 2 years, it's not a bad strategy--the guys a banger and highly-skilled. he'd definitely do well in the west. a contract like that doesn't mean long term commitment. he can be a captain, etc.

it basically would give gillis two years to find younger players, and continue developing the ones already here. either sign the sedins or trade them, etc etc.

Oh for fuck's sake don't do it Gillis. Sundin is great, but AT $7M A SEASON.

Looks like GMMG took the Mike Millbury class at GM school.

so if that happened I believe bert and nazzy are back

Naslund - Sundin - Bertuzzi
Sedin - Sedin - Pyatt
Raymond - Kesler - Burrows
Pettinger - Wellwood - Shannon

top 6.... interesting.

Without Bert, still interesting:

Naslund - Sundin - Raymond
D. Sedin - H. Sedin - Pyatt
Burrows - Kesler - Pettinger
Cowan - Rypien - Brown
Shannon

That's how I'd do it, I don't see Wellwood fitting in the top six and he's not appropriate for a bottom six role, I'd rather have a solid checking line led by Kesler and a fourth "bang and crash and sometimes fight" line that Vigneault always talked about having an "identity", a way of adding grit to this team.

For that depth spot, I'd just as soon use Shannon for $500k less a cap hit than Wellwood.

It's not a bad forward corps, and believe it or not, we'd still end up with some cap space to add at the deadline as I think Naslund would come back very reasonable. We even might have enough room to take a swing at Rolston to place him with the Twins, also on a two-year deal.

With our defense and goaltending, this might be the one or two moves that MG said would drastically turn this team around. We'll see.

$20 million is a lot of money, but it's only for two years.

I'd rather have Sundin for two seasons instead of Messier for three. ;)
