Trevor Linden was the true embodiment of class and professionalism in every way during his tenure with the Canucks and I don't think the Canucks will ever find a better ambassador for the team, the city and the game of hockey itself than number 16. From his tireless efforts with Canuck Place and other charities, his legacy will be an enduring one.

When I have kids, if they can be even half the man that Linden turned out to be, I'll consider them to be a great success.

Thanks for the memories Trev. I'll always be proud that you were a Canuck. I met Trevor when I was 7 years old, and he signed a puck that I caught! (during Linden's rookie year) Definitely one of my favourite memories as a child.

You know, I have never seen any footage of Messier hitting Linden in game 6. Has anyone ever seen it?

I went to the game last night and came away happier than if we had won. Every standing ovation we gave Trevor felt better than any goal. Trevor Linden will always have a spot on my Canucks

Y'know....if Vigneault was fired there could be a spot for Trev on this team next year. The grass is always greener on the other side and Trev can get the job done STILL. If Vigneault is back then I can't see Trevor ever subjecting himself to another season like this or worse....not that Vigneault would want him back or anything.

I hope that next season, Linden resigns with the team at the trade deadline (Linden, like Forsberg, stays in good shape).

Even someone as "anti-Linden" as Veenyo can't deny the fact that Linden is STILL one of our best players come crunch time. That alone, merits Linden being resigned at the deadline.

Speaking of new coaches - I'm intrigued with the idea of Pat Quinn being named our new coach. With Quinn as coach, players with major offensive potential would be more likely to sign with us.

If Veenyo stays as coach though, I think the "direction" the Canucks should go, is modelling themselves after the New Jersey Devils of old (or even the 05'/06 version of the flames). With a superstar goalie in Luongo, AMPLIFY that with a world class defense in front of him (combined with a bunch of shut down forwards, PK/PP specialists, and young kids up front).

If the Canucks could be superior with their goaltending and defensive prowess (while their special teams are tops), then the Canucks could be a legit contender (think back to last season's playoffs.......if the Canucks' PP had been even "AVERAGE", they would've beaten Dallas in 5, and would've been toe-to-toe with Anaheim).

But that's another story for another day.

yup...Linden was a class act, and I'm sure we'll see him back in the Canucks organization one way or the other...I still have a poster of him signed by him, and a black away uniform from his rookie year.

I think it really says something that the Flames paid him tribute on Saturday. That shows a degree of respect that not many others have earned.

Linden had a fair chance to prove himself and we saw what he really had to offer over the last 11 games. Not much, The much celebrated speech saw this team enter full collapse mode and if you wanted to see what he could with more ice time and NO Calgary flame checking him he showed us with an almost comical display of hockey. It is over for him and should have been a few years ago. He has 5 playoff goals over the past decade and as a leader is very lacking as his lack of playoff success both personally and team-wise illustrates.. What is wrong with you people? When you say you want him back you are saying that you don't want to win. I hope you enjoyed the swan song and I hope that the franchise can move forward into a more successful era than the Linden era, as a Canucks fan I certainly hope he shows some class and retires for good. The idea of having him come back for next years playoffs is laughable and makes me embarrassed to be a Canucks fan.
