Different because they are so many more teams in the race, whereas in the West, there are pretty much 6 or 7 teams who have technically (but not mathematically) locked up a spot, but here you go:

Laughs
Current Points: 80
Available Points: 22
Max Points: 102

To Reach 103 / Max Possible

PHI: 24 / 26 (.923)
NYR: Max is 102 if they win out
TBL: 20 / 26 (.769)
MON: 20 / 24 (.833)
CBJ: Max is 102 if they win out
WAS: Max is 100 if they win out
DET: 28 / 28 (1.000)

Laughs are current playing at a .563 winning percentage for the year and are .500 in their last 10.

Let's say they play .636 the rest of the way through (14/22 points):

Points at EOY: 94

To Reach 95 / Max Possible

PHI: 16 / 26 (.615)
NYR: 17 / 24 (.708)
TBL: 12 / 26 (.461)
MON: 12 / 24 (.500)
CBJ: 19 / 26 (.730)
WAS: 19 / 24 (.791)
DET: 20 / 26 (.769)

This is so predictable; basically out of it, but winning enough to keep meager, paper-thin hope alive and end up with the 12-14 pick in the draft instead of say 7-10. The only saving grace is it is giving kids like Jensen and Lack more playing time and confidence for the future...still, let's not get carried away boys, play hard and lose, that's ok.

Looking at the schedule for Dallas, Phoenix, and Vancouver it might take less than 90 points to get in. I'm watching all three teams and it looks like it will go down to the wire.....when Dallas plays Phoenix. A Dallas win will allow Vancouver into the 8th spot, knowing our luck the game will go into OT and Phoenix will score sealing our fate. Missing the playoffs by one point or having the same amount of points as Phoenix but losing the tie-breaker.

Yeah we pretty much have to go 10-0 over last 10 games with Phoenix up by 5 points with two games in hand and playing very good hockey at the moment. Looks like 10-0 won't even be good enough

Can't wait til we pick 14th in the draft.

It's so... amusing on here at times. A day or two ago, I more or less said the same thing as you said here, and I was 'swarmed' an basically accused of talking heresy by the Nuck Zealots. In all fairness though, the fact that I was suggesting that the team should deliberately tank, goes against everything that people/athletes are conditioned for in the sports world. Still, we have the opportunity to cheer a little in appreciation that with each loss between now and season's end, we incrementally move towards a better draft pick on draft day. Truthfully, given how things have gone this season, draft day may turn out to be the highlight of '13-'14 as far as the Canucks are concerned (hopefully we don't fuck that up too an pull a frikin Nonis-like pick, i.e., Patrick White).

We can still get Carolina's 6th spot.
Yes we are inapplicably winning right now and the wrong teams are losing but they do have some games in hand on us.

If we count those as wins then we are in 23 spot and 7th pick so we will be in top 10 regardless..

Have some faith ffs

Anyone want to bet?!

Hmm , I thought I heard the Fat Lady warming up the day MG signed the Sedins for 4 more years. Seems as soon as the ink was dry they started playing a "union" game..
For the record I was against the early signing .. I doubt MG would offer them 7 mill today..
I will also be cheering for them to win every game left in the schedule and hoping they make the playoffs.. If that doesn't happen I will cheer when Aqualini drives MG to the airport :)

LA and DAL pull further ahead (LA is a pipe dream, DAL pulls ahead ever so slightly)
PHO falls, MIN and WIN stay idle.

Max Possible 94

Number of points required to reach 95 / Total points available

LA: 9 / 22 (.409)

Canucks need to finish ahead of 3 of these teams to make the post season
MIN: 10 / 20 (.500)
PHO: 16 / 22 (.727)
DAL: 18 / 24 (.750)
WIN: 22 / 22 (1.000)

Laughs:
Current: 80
Points Available: 18
Max Possible: 98

CBJ: 21 / 22 (.954)

DET: 28 / 28 (1.000)

Laughs are current playing at a .547 winning percentage for the year and are .400 in their last 10.

Let's say they play .611 the rest of the way through (11/18 points):

Points at EOY: 91

Mike Smith with injured leg, left the game. Looked like he was in a lot of pain. Hopefully this hinders Phoenix.

3 tests and a challenge against Dallas who will certainly be up for that one as they are fighting for 8th with the Yotes. 4 tough games in their remaining 10.

3 games against California teams. Not good. The Wild and Oilers always play us tough and AV would probably like nothing better than to play spoiler for his old team.

I really can't see this team making it into final spot. No last ditch miracles this time around.
