Where is Larscheid?

The last few games I've listened to the radio have a new guy doing colour. Did Larscheid go through with his retirement (in the middle of the season?!) or is there some other reason he is taking a break?

He's on holidays until first game back after all-star break.

I wish he would retire.... too bad we have at least another half a season left of him.

You really prefer his replacement that doesn't know what "ensuing" means?

He works 8 months a year, how does he need a holiday? When he is in Vancouver he does nothing until game time, he needs a holiday?

Geez Tom Larsheid....I remeber listening to him and Jim Robson back in the seventies when I lived in Victoria, was a huge Canucks fan then.

But moved to Calgary and went over to the dark side(Flames).

Really enjoy John Shorthouse and Larsheid when I listen to the Canucks on line.

I enjoy Larschied because frankly he's light and entertaining. Although i don't want some one that is a "Vancouver can do no wrong" sort of guy I don't want a guy that's looking for faults all the time either, so Larschied to my way of thinking fits the job. I don't mind Pratt either because he's usually upbeat, has a laugh and won't try and impose his opinion on others. Again he entertains.

The direct opposite would be the Undertaker, Gallagher. Can you imagine having to live in the same house as that depressed soul

Brent Butt was pretty sweet the other night against the blues... that corner gas thing can't last forever, can it?

I sure hope Thomlinson doesn't get the gig when little Tommey retires. As bad as Larscheid is, Thomlinson has the personality of a shoehorn.

Some interesting reads on the subject:
Brent Butt tries stint as colour commentator
Popular Canadian comedian Brent Butt, star of the situation comedy Corner Gas, took a spin as the game's colour commentator along with regular play-by-play man John Shorthouse.

Butt, who says he played goal as a kid in Saskatchewan, warned Shorthouse at the game's start to "lower your expectations."
When it comes to radio, I have all the write stuff
The Vancouver Canucks are on the cusp of a crisis.

Roberto Luongo isn't making enough saves, his depleted defence is making too many mistakes, coach Alain Vigneault can't find a second line and the Canucks are 1-5-1 in their last seven games. Mostly, Tom Larscheid is on vacation and that is causing chaos.
And personally, I've always loved Tommy. how can you not love that laugh? As I've said before I'd take him over John Garrett any day. Not that I'm a John Garrett Hater either, I don't mind the guy. Tom's a bit of a Homer, but not an unrealistic one, and him and shortie together are a great team. :towel:
