Smoke traded to Vancouver....

Post by JamesOwnzSam11 » Mon Feb 26, 2007 3:06 pm

Will he take Mark Messier's old number 11?

Sportsnet reporting this.

The trade alert was just RETRACTED and that we are closing in on aquiring him. I hope this doesnt screw us over. I thought it was a good deal.

Oh and it was most likely LAs second rounder.

Good deal, if only considering what the rest of the market was giving up for players. Smoke will help, a RHS and solid 2-way player.

Good work so far, Nonis!

Can anybody confirm that this is official with a source? I fear as though it may be hearsay

You mean we didn't retire it?

If this trade ends up going thru I'll be thrilled. Smoke's the best fit for this team for a reasonable price.

Actually I heard 11 was unofficially retired because of the guy who wore it last before Messier died. If this is true, only a jack ass like Messier would wear it.

I'd still make the deal in a heartbeat. King's day has come and gone.

King? LOL

Also, number 11 was never retired in Vancouver.

Looks like Sportsnet is under the influence of Eklund being in their studio. Today Eklund announced Kovalev was put on waivers. Now Sportsnet announces a trade and retracts it. I hope this trade does go through though.

Decent value if that proves to be the case. Does anyone know the status of signing rights with respect to Chubarov, Noronen, Koltsov?
