Park Signs With Islanders

Post by Ilevakam » Mon Oct 02, 2006 10:50 am

TSN reported today that Richard Park has signed a one way 2 year deal with the Islanders worth apporximately 500,000 each season but does anybody care? I personally really liked Park, as the Wild, but as a Canuck he did pretty much nothing. Can't recall a single game where I felt like he had any impact. I still wish him luck with the Isies.

He was good at the beginning of the season, tailed off, a la Jason King with fewer goals. The fact that he took till the pre-season was about done to get signed and took a pay-cut says it all.

For a guy who was billed as a defensive forward...

He sure was god-damned clueless when it came to defense. He was frequently out of position and was rubbed off the puck to a degree that made him ineffective. He is a player who IMO was made by the Lemaire system.

Last year he was what, the 7th choice for forward on our PK?

Doesn't sound like much of a defensive forward to me.

Good luck to him on the Island. Nothing against the guy, but he can be neatly filed away in the 'failed experiment' folder in Nonis' drawer.

How long before he's named GM?

I really liked Richard Park. He had qutie a bit of hustle and great speed. He just couldn't get it going with the 'Nucks. As a member of the Wild, he produced all around.

Let's hope it's not the same case with Willie MItchell
I Hart Luongo.
