2006-2007 Canucks Roster, Salaries & Info

Post by VHF » Wed Aug 02, 2006 10:38 am

I put together a comprehensive & useful web page that encompassed a variety of information pertaining to the current/expected Canucks roster for the upcoming season.

I will update and expand the page regularly as we move towards the start of the 2006-07 season. Let me know if you would to see any data that I haven't included.

I noticed an interesting fact:

The Canucks currently have the first two goaltenders selected in the 1997 entry draft:
Roberto Luongo (#4, NYI)
Mika Noranen (#21, BUF)

Coincidentally, San Jose currently has the first two players selected in the 1997 entry draft:
Joe Thornton (#1, Boston)
Patrick Marleau (#2, San Jose)

For those of you who are curious, the #3 overall pick was center Olli Jokkinen (LA). The Canucks picked defenseman Brad Ference with the #10 pick and winger Matt Cooke with the #144 pick (sixth round).

A side note...

Keep in mind that the Canucks are likely to go with a 21 player roster. Since the data on my web page calculates all its totals/averages based on 22 players, for salary cap calculation purposes, subtract $450,000 from the team Salary Cap commitment total.

I will be adding 2-way contract info in the few days or so... weather permitting :).

Awesome site.
How long did that take you to put together?

Thanks all. Hard to say howlong it took me to put it together because I've chipping away at it and collecting data for a while. From scratch, with all data on hand, it would probably take me a couple of hours to set up & format.
