Great summary, Mick.
Well, I know what I think wouldn't be popular and I've been hesitating for a while now. Wasn't exactly a summary for the ages, was It?

As far as I'm concerned the 19 /20 season should be sacrificed completely. No cup awarded. A big asterisk like a WWII year.
It seems like lunacy to try and do it all. It is a world health war.
The logical path is to return to a semblance of normalcy AND time frame for the good of all concerned, IMHO.
Is it right to condense an already taxing schedule even more, a lot more?
The lost revenue is something that pretty much every company and most individual people and families are facing due to the health crisis.
Pull the plug, hand out awards and figure out an agreeable draft order. Get a plan in the works for 20 /21.
Certainly there will be tough talks as to how to proceed. Even 20 /21 will be hard to play 82 regular season games. It too may have
to be modestly shortened. Not the playoffs though.
The old Commish is right about mentioning the player's critical need to properly get back into game shape.
I say all this all because I personally want to keep the standard and integrity of the game. Protect it long term.
Don't need more than one bastardized season. SAP to a decent level of normalcy is what I think best for everyone.
but that's just me, a face in the crowd.

Excellent post G. I agree with most of it but I feel these greedy owners will want to pull the season out of the fire and save it at all costs. Or should I say mangle it?

They should show some leadership and gas the season. Put a fork in it.

For selfish reasons, I personally want to see us finish the season. I really like the way JB built this team and this maybe our last chance to see Marky, Toffoli and Tan-man suit up for us. I want to see if Marky can be a playoff goalie. I want to see if Toffoli can be a clutch playoff performer. I want to see if Tan-man can end his career here with a bang. While I'm not sure if we have the ingredients to go all the way, I really think we can be a dark horse team that can surprise a lot of ppl.

I don't mind waiting till like Sept to resume and maybe start the next season in Dec. If this was any other year (when we sucked), I wouldn't care, but our team is on the cusp of looking like a powerhouse. Even if we don't make it very far, the playoff experience would be extremely beneficial to our young core of Petey, Hughes, Brockstar, Virts, even BoHo, etc.

I also agree with pulling the plug on the season, that makes 3 of us!

Agreed, if they want to create some buzz then get working on the draft.

The hard discussions will be around how to play the next season, looks like it will be a full season of no fans in the stadiums and this will go on until the find a vaccine.

So now that this season has ended what is our preference, have our pick this year or next? I would assume this year as next year the team should be a definite lock on a playoff spot.

The playoffs without fans isnt really going to be the playoff atmosphere that makes it what it is at all.

With or without fans - does anyone here really want to see a Stanley Cup* awarded this year?

Call it a season, hold a draft at the regular and hope the new season isn't delayed too much.

Among the league's proposed scenarios are using points percentage to determine the draft order, picking only one winner through the lottery system with a maximum move-up of four spots, and giving teams that have traded conditional first-round picks seven days to work out a new solution, according to Friedman
So what might these solutions be i wonder...

Naw get the 2020 Cup done, acting like they missed an entire year, but they trained all summer, preseason and played 70ish regular season games, this is just a hiccup like a longer extended Olympic break.
A long time ago, a baseball player remarked: "If I owned a ballclub, I'd hire a $5,000 coach and a $15,000 scout."
