Are the Canucks 1 defense injury away from Chatfield playing?

Ya they seriously need to look at anyone but him

I didn't think much at first, Kinda, meh. This year been very good. But; UFA this summer.
He has the right to test the waters. Very depending on the rest of this year. If he continues to play well.....
This is a situation where "desirable place to play" would have to come in to play because the Canucks can ill afford a pricey contract
for Josh.
See where things are at later in the year. Like Feb. or something. Maybe June too. ;)

His value (after this season) will be as an affordable option that can play up and down the lineup. If he goes fishing for big cheques or term he wont be playing in Van I'd say.

Define "pricey". What do you think he will get, and what do you think he is worth.

Your good at posting links to everyone else's opinion, what's yours?

I think he signs before the trade deadline. They'll make an offer at exactly 3.8 m over two years, 1.9 per.
He is not consistent enough to command big bucks and if he demands it, he'll sign elsewhere as a FA in the summer.
He is noce depth to have in the bottom six, but not critical to the team going forward.
Hopefully his motivation for a big payday gets the Canucks into the playoffs.
If they lose him, Motte or one of the rookie prospects will replace him next season, so it wouldn't be a huge loss.
We are all Jim Benning.

So what happens if the guy goes on one of those infamous contract year scoring streaks? Thats when you worry

I dont think the team should pay anymore than the 1.5 he signed this past summer. Thats about max he should earn

I'll have to reverse that and say; my opinion is, he's worth about 2.3 to 2.5 on one more short term, two year contract.
Pricey to me would be 3.5 and up, long term. He's a UFA, if he and his agent feel he can get it by waiting, they can try.
As it sits now, it's early.

There are a couple placeholders ahead of those two in Macewen and Gadjovich. One of those may be able to stick around as the Mottes ad Schallers of the lineup shuffle through.

They’ll be our cheap depth that will replace beagle, schaller motte, so we don’t have to go dumpster diving for losers like spezza. Although I’m sure blob loved the spezza signing, he’s got a mad crush on nerd boy.
