Well Jim Benning has done his job this offseason, now it's all in Travis Green, Nolan Baumgartner, Newell Brown, Clark, Malhotra hands to coach this team into the march to the playoffs is the goal.
A long time ago, a baseball player remarked: "If I owned a ballclub, I'd hire a $5,000 coach and a $15,000 scout."

Should be a full flight to Utica in the morning.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

#Canucks Coach Travis Green uses the word “relief” when asked about Boeser’s signing today. Adds he looks forward to seeing him join the group later this week, but doesn’t expect him to get into a game until maybe next Saturday vs LAK in Salt Lake City.

Sportsnet 650

Benning on the trade market: "I'm talking to some teams now, I don't know where that ends up going. But I think we're going to have a competitive camp, we've got some young players that have looked fairly good. We'll sit down after camp and have some hard decisions to make."

If there was an “Off-season GM of the Year” award Jimbro’s got this by a country mile. When you compare what he’s done this off season vs Mr. “overrated Ken Holland” has done with that useless franchise in Edmonton it’s not even close

By trading him for the room cancer James Neal. Not sure if he is much better

I don’t think he is, but his contract can be bought out so it’s maybe a slight win

Holland is terrible.

But the Oilers can't do much to make a difference this season without making a radical move and breaking up the core (and I've posted before why I think they really ought to consider trading McDavid).

Absent that, lots of roster spots will open up next season, but not a ton of money (most pending UFAs have small salaries, and they will have to deal with Nurse and Benning as RFAs). The money gets freer going into 2021-22. The only way to advance that without a radical move is by trading RNH or hoping that some team has a deadline need so bad they are willing to pick up Larsson or Russell. The worse thing that could happen to the Oilers is that they hang around the playoff picture and hold their meh assets.

Given this situation, Holland's worst decision was taking the job.

Hey, listen. No one in Vancouver needs to worry about the draft this year. 2 reasons for that. 1, obviously they're going to make the playoffs. Everyone knows that. And 2, none of the Hughes brothers are eligible for the draft this year. Luke's not there yet
