This is such a strong draft where guys like Perfetti, Rossi, Lundell would probably be drafted 5-8 easily, may not even get taken in the top 10. Buffalo just reached for Quinn.

Nice touch by the Jets getting Hawerchuk’s wife to announce the pick.

Great picks by both the Wild and the Jets.,

Stupid Leaves take Amirov.

I thought for sure they'd trade the pick.

Funny how they could have used a guy like Guhle who Montreal just picked or Schneider or Grieg who are still left. The leaves just picked a wet fart

So much talk about how deep this draft is. Imagine how tough today would be if Miller didn't work out. I'm happy with Miller, I'm happy with the overall team progress. Today isn't hard at all.

Though tough offseason for JB with a ton to do if we want to continue to progress next year. Growth isn't linear and with all the tough decisions to be made I'm kinda expecting a step back next season. We shall see, I just hope whatever he does it doesn't involve next year's 1st.

The yoties don't want to give away their franchise defenseman but he has them over a barrel. Same with Marky. He wants to stay on and see where this team can go more than he wants to cash in with detroit and suffer that fate.

It sure looks like Tanev is gone though.
Yeah, Tanev looks gone, kind of mixed on it but in some ways I agree, he was lucky last season (injury wise). One of those hard choices. Now if we do land OEL, it would make loosing Tanev easier to take.
Taking on Larsen's contract would be very much a deal for the now, not the long term future. Better win the cup in the next three years.
If we sign Tanev to a 5 year contract he'll be 35 years old when it's done.

If we trade for OEL and his contract he'll be 35 years old when it's done.
In that scenario we have a $3M difference in cap hit though.

You always omit critical details Doc.....why is that? :P

Flames make the 1st trade with the NYR.

NYR move up to pick 19th pick in 2020 draft for #22 and #72 draft picks in 2020 draft to flamers.
& select braden schneider a big right side dman.

The $3M+ difference in salary is something we all know about and has nothing to do with the subject at hand.

Should I have also mentioned water is wet?

Mëds: "I shall have my revenge!"

Gomer seemed to be suggesting that going with OEL over Tanev would shorten our window somehow...

Apparently we got JT in a trade for some dude named Shakir Mukhamadullin. :eh:

I wonder if Jimbro had Shakir Mukhamadullin on his list @20?

Kid looks like he's at least a 4-5 year project. Probably would also take at least the same amount of time for a drafted forward to equal what JT brought this year.

I'm more than happy with the JT Miller trade.

Actually it was the 20th pick this year and a 3rd rounder from last year. The Lightning drafted a goalie with the 3rd that they really like.

But alas ... the trade worked out pretty good for both teams I think.

Shakir - a 6'4, 178 lb Russian... Yep - I'll take Miller, too.

Of course, Benning would have drafted a Boeser-like steal... so who knows. ;)
