Good job buddy. All those hours of therapy on Docs knee are finally paying off
If he doesn’t waive.

If he does maybe think of giving him a bump in pay, an extra year and a bit of security

So you've completely abandoned your 3-year NMC position? :mex:

Not completely. I just hope they ask him to waive first and foremost. Then cross the bridge when they come to it

So you consider it logical to give him a NMC in that 3rd year and ask him to waive it immediately!

Nein, your attempts to twist this thread into a pretzel will not succeed I'm afraid mein herr.

Man up, your squirming sickens me, admit you were completely wrong.

Sorry, nothing personal, if such an inane argument went unchallenged, this site would take a hit.

I am fine with keeping him at a reasonable dollar and length figure but yeah, do you due diligence and make sure he is not willing to waive and create a bidding war first.

Yeah sign Edler for two years with a modified ntc.

I foresee Tryamkin back if not next season then by 2020.

OJ likely starts his NHL career next season.

Hughes will be exempt.

So just have to protect Tryamkin, Juolevi and one other dman who could be signed July 1st. 8-)
So the team has to think about Tanev (could sign him 1 yr extension next year), Stecher, Hutton long term plans or could just expose Stech/Huts and let the chips fall where they may.

expose: Roussel, Eriksson, Beagle, Stecher, Hutton & get a vet goalie.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

I would resign Edler to a series of 1 year contracts. He can have full NMC in any year except 20/21. (I don't want to have to protect him). Tell him up front you are overpaying him, and give him 6 or 7 million next year to prove it. (Wtf, it ain't my money). Then later, after we have signed Boeser, Pete and we know how the Luongo contract ends, we can pay him less.

Edler makes the same amount, we control the term, team is protected against expansion and we have a slight bit of room for cap flexibility.

When he no longer has a place on the team, stop giving him contracts.

That would be great if we could just unilaterally impose a contract. But since Edler gets a say in it I doubt that comes to pass. A 2-3 year deal. If two we can give him a full NMC. If three, it needs to be modified, at least the last two years need to be. He may be ok with that Since Seattle isn’t far from Vancouver so the risk of being picked up by them may not be too bad.
The only HW the Canucks need
